Conversation.

Hi, I was thinking that it would be great if there was some place where you can have moderately serious conversations with random people about ‘life in general’. I mean real time voice conversation, not text conversation. I find the latter to be unreal and unsettling and I really hate it!

When I say ‘life in general’ I mean all the mundane boring details of life. (But not boring because that’s what life is, it’s made up of all those little things.) I say ‘random’ people but I really I would want people who are sensible and sensitive, thoughtful and intelligent, caring, interested, empathetic and non-judgemental. (I am aware of the irony here: I am being kind of judgemental by insisting on all these attributes!) Also it would need be someone properly grown up. That’s why I am posting this message in the 35+ community. I myself was born 1970.

So the place I am trying to describe is NOT therapy, not even ‘support’. It is broader than that. Although I’m sure it could be just as therapeutic as therapy. It would be a place where people share their experience of life in a casual stress-free way. This would be useful. Maybe particularly if, like me, they feel their experience of life is unusual in some way. And talking to others about it will get them some perspective. Maybe.

I know some *** servers have voice channels. The format of that is something like a room with tables where you can sit at a table and this constitutes an invitation for others to join you and talk.

You might think that what I am describing is exactly covered by the Chatting to Listeners function here on 7cups. But I don’t think it is. Or maybe it is. Maybe I don’t know what I want and my description doesn’t make any sense.

I suppose if anybody wants to know what I mean then they know where to find me.
