Epiphany
At 36, I've recently come to a realization: I don't have any friends outside of work. It hit me that my work friends are just that friends at work. They have their own social circles outside of the office, but I don't. I'm feeling at a loss and unsure how to build a friend group from scratch at this stage in my life.

You aren't alone on that... 👋🏻
Sudden we are hit with this craving for an old style friendship... Supportive, who listen and talks, who accept us... And then, face this reality of situational people we find almost everyday and when not in the same place just vanish...
Yeah, not encouraging to say here or a solution. Just wanted to make sure you are not alone and also heard and understood.
I recently started to contact old friends after little or no contact over many years, and have found that they actually welcomed spending time together again. It hasn't been as it was when we were friends years ago, but I have found that people appreciate that I have been open about my struggles, and they have opened up about issues they are struggling with.
@creativeKite447 I feel you, in the same boat as you. Once you move job you leave the friends behind and then have to make new ones.

I hear you. It is hard to start friendships at this age because it's an age where everyone is busy, tired or busy again. I hope you can find your way to navigate this and please know, you are not alone in this.
This is so relatable and the goal that unfortunately cannot come immediately and takes time to grow. You’re not alone in this and it’s great that you seem to be willing to take action to build a life you want to live. I’ve found it helpful to find a “3rd space” through a hobby where you can socialize or through going to meet-up group events (the app). I hope you find your community!
@creativeKite447 it's very tough and can feel lonely, I'm sorry you're going through that. I would suggest looking into activities around some of your hobbies and passions. There are always groups of all ages you can participate in. Book clubs, rock climbing, yoga, video games, etc...
Most of my friends I've made being a part of my local motorcycle community. The first step is just being brave enough to step out of your comfort zone.
