Problems with People.

I try to be kind to everyone online.  But there are some people online that annoy me.  People who write run on sentences, annoy me because I have a hard time understanding what they are saying.  Just recently on another site, someone has been doing this to me, and I have put up with it for weeks.

Another thing that annoys me, is when someone decides that they don't like me based on the fact that I don't want to watch a video or 2 or 3 that they want me too.  Then after they put some pressure on me, then I finally watch them.  Then I find out that I'm not impressed, and I try to explain why I'm not impressed.  Then they get "hurt" and start acting snarky because I don't agree with what is in the video.  Somehow this doesn't seem right to me.  We all like what we like, and don't like what we don't like.  I don't why some people can't just take a hint, and stop it.  I'm probably going to be losing this person because they don't like it that I don't like the videos they tried to get me into.

I don't understand why people give up so easily with someone.  Such little things cause people to get upset.  I understand how it feels when a friend doesn't like something I like.  But I think part of growing up, is learning to accept that we are all different.  Don't major on the minors.  Try to find something else to have in common.  That is what I think.

@tryingtosurvive2024

It is nice to hear from you again. It seems that our paths here cross quite often, and it usually makes me smile 😊

For me it sounds perfectly valid and healthy if you are not eager to watch some videos just because of the fact someone expects you to do so.

I believe that would be not very kind to not listen what another person wants to tell you. But at the same time I think it is OK to not accept communicating by a third-party quotations or videos.

What we are interested to see is a human in another person. And it is not about agreeing to salesman-like tricks like "you have to watch the video or read the article before I let you be one of my friends".

I believe it is all about boundaries. For example, I've got a friend who sometimes sends me links to videos she found interesting, sometimes being an hour long "talking heads" interviews. But it happened to me to kindly and politely say things like: "I am sorry, but, you know, I find it really difficult to concentrate on a video which is more than 20 minutes long, even if that is really interesting" or: "Personally, I am not very fond of this person, but I am glad you liked it!". It seems we are still friends 😉

I am also aware of the fact that my friends have completely no obligation to click any links I send to them, or read or watch anything I've linked in full.

Also it reminds a story back from the beginning of the internet, when my friend and my cousin started to send me some "funny things" stuff via email attachments, what completely blocked my inbox and eaten up my web connection. I asked them to stop.

Once it was completely NOT funny, because one of this "fun" attachments showed an aftermath of a terrible car accident, and I had a trauma from seeing this for months... I told my friend about it, and he answered like: "Really? Oh, I am sorry. I had no idea it can make an effect on you like that."

@jacek73  Thank you for your comment.  I've been trying to work this out in my head.  There are lots of times I shared something with someone, and they wanted nothing to do with it.  I understand how it feels.  Sometimes you can feel rejected.  Especially if they do it all the time.

I ran into an inbox problem too.  I was sending an online "friend" some computer wallpapers and filled up their inbox.  I felt bad about it, because the purpose was to be able to share something they and I like, and hopefully help make the friendship grow.  Now I'm only allowed to send one a week, because of the inbox problem on their end.

Really I would just prefer to talk to people, and once in a while share something like a video or audio....  In regards to the guy we are talking about in my original post, the videos He wants me to watch are an hour long, and they are about controversial subjects.  Like what really happened on 9/11.  Vaccines are "bad" cause they got bad stuff in them.  The elites, want to reduce population for control.  Just stuff like that.  I've wasted my own time, watching that stuff in the past.  While it can be interesting, it has never made my life any better, or lead me into more truth.  At the end of the day I found myself doing the exact same thing I have always done.  Just try to make good choices, and be kind to others.

I have been trying to reason with this person.  This is the internet and it is full of all kinds of information.  Some good and some bad, and it's hard to figure out which is which.  Now days you can't even believe some of the pictures you see.  Or the Videos you see.  They keep getting better at masking alterations.

@tryingtosurvive2024  +1 on all points. One of the undesirable changes in the Internet Era is the rise of the attitude you described. So many people harbor this notion that all others will have the same opinions, the same tastes, etc. as themselves. When they inevitably find out that isn't true (& never will be), they get upset. Could've saved themselves a lot of trouble if they didn't hold such an unreasonable expectation to begin with.

Give it a few more years, & you may well arrive at misanthropy. I did.

@slowdecline48  Something about what you just said kinda struck me.  I have ran into someone in real life that seemed to assume that I believed the way they do.  No matter how many times I explained myself and showed them the little differences between us, they would go right back to assuming the same. I am thankful that this person did not get mad about it.

Another thing that came to me is:

Egoic attachment is the expression of the ego through attachment and desire, with the ego seeking its own self-interest.

If you criticize something that they identify with, they become unhinged.

Interesting term there...I never read it before. But I totally get the idea. Another way of putting it would be "not having a clear boundary between one's opinion (political stance) & one's sense of self-worth". For someone suffering from vagueness of self, any criticism of his/her stance--or even an opinion different from that stance--may feel like a personal attack, even though it isn't & was never intended as such.

@tryingtosurvive2024

People have all different abilities. Grammar isn't everyone's strength. If we were all to read the same sentence, we would all interpret it differently. Unfortunately with online communication what you mean by your sentence isn't always how others will understand the sentence. It is frustrating. If you don't like something, do you just say i don't like it? Or do add a supporting detail? If you say I don't like the video because of this. That may help others see it not as an attack or anything. It's just your opinion. I have found supporting details paint a more clearer picture. Plus it doesn't make you look like the bad guy.

@compassionateMoon4024  His sentence structure was some of the worst I have ever seen online.  He might as well of been speaking Spanish, a language I can't understand at all.  I tried printing it out on paper and tried my best to read and understand it, and still couldn't.  Then He loaded it up full of questions about things that I couldn't understand why they were even questions.  As for the Videos, I tried to tell him that prophecy is not my thing, and yet that is exactly what He kept cramming down my throat.  Normally I would explain why I don't like them, but since it was over extremely controversial issues like "What really happened during 9/11, the airplanes didn't really hit the trade center stuff"  and Vaccines are the start of the mark of the beast.  I almost didn't want to tell him why I didn't like the videos.  But since He kept pushing at me, I finally had too, and then I learned He is anti-vaccine.  And considers me deceived because I am vaccinated.

* About half of what He wrote, I could kinda understand.  The other half I sure couldn't.  It was a very frustrating experience.  I'm tired of being called deceived, so He is on ignore now.

Seems a bit hypocritical because your saying don't major on the minors yet your hung up on someone's grammar. I feel like this could have been more of a listener talk instead of a post for everyone on this app to see.

@BluePanPan  I posted this and then talked to a listener about it.   Yeah his grammar was so bad that I should of just blocked me for it.  But instead I chose to be patient with him and suffered through for 8 pages of conversations.  Where I tried to gently ask him to not use run on sentences and that didn't work.  From now on, if someone does this to me they will be block right away!  No sense in talking to someone that you can't totally understand.

You definitely should have only talked to a listener instead of talking about someone behind their back on a public forum. That seems a bit petty. They could have found this and gotten upset about it. Not everyone is a grammar Nazi or has English as a first language. You should send very detailed courses or videos to help them accommodate YOUR wants. If you get annoyed over small things like this then you will miss out on many great friendships.

@BluePanPan  I've been online talking to people for 22 years.  This guy was bad at writing and he turned out to be a real jerk by the end.

@BluePanPan  Look the guy wrote so badly you couldn't even tell what He was saying half of the time!  I even tried printing it out and looking at that way.  It was paragraph after paragraph like that.  Over and over and over again.  BTW I don't care if you like me or not.

@tryingtosurvive2024  I do not mention this person by name, nor are they on this site.  I didn't want to write this post.  I was patient with this person for what feels like several weeks.  It might have only been 2.  Anyways I feel that I was very patient with them.  They are from the United States, and speaks English just like I do.  This person would of gone through the same kinds of education.  Everyone knows that good communication is very important.  If you can't understand someone, then you can't make connection with them.  I'm not the best a grammar either but people can at least understand what I say.  Thankfully 97% of everyone I meet on this website, write decently.  Even those that English is not their first language, runs circles around what I was putting up with.  😄

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this is a case of likely just moving on from them. Don't have to make it into a big thing, especially if it's not a relationship, but you can just leave instead of just doing things like this? Or you can choose to "live and let live". Not sure, but this doesn't seem healthy to just do this? I mean, I could be wrong, and I know you're looking for support and to obviously vent, but we cannot change other people, just change ourselves and our responses to situations.

I hope you find someone that you can talk to that fits you better.
