Worried because my sibling has been in hospital for over a month with mental health issues and there hasn’t really been any sign of improvement in all this time. I wonder if their health will ever improve

@SG89 oh wow, that is a really hard thing for you and your family to be going through. I recently dealt with something similar in my own family, and it has been quite exhausting and emotionally draining. It is a heavy load to carry. I hope that you and your relatives can be a source of comfort and support for one another during this hard time.

Do you have some self-care ideas that you can put in place? I am not sure what you like to do or what feels relaxing to you, but some ideas might be: taking a long bubble bath, listening to favorite music, eating favorite foods, going for a walk or a drive with no destination in mind, or spending just one day NOT at the hospital.

Another thing that might be helpful is to keep a journal of your thoughts and feelings. Sometimes it is nice to look back and see things from beginning to end, or to write out our thoughts so that we can better process them.

Please reach out if you would like to talk more about what you and your family are going through. You can send me a message, or find more listeners here: https://www.7cups.com/BrowseListeners/

Aww sorry for this. I think it's too early to know if they're a lifer or not. It's only been a month. My mom is a lifer with mental health decline. Took me a couple of years to accept that she'll always be in the nursing home now. For the longest time I planned on her coming home.

by the way, many psych meds take months to fully work. I hope your sibling improves.
