my presonal intro
Before I begin, I'd like to share a bit about myself. I've chosen the name "bartender" because it symbolizes more than just pouring drinks; it embodies the role of caretaker, listener, and supporter in our society. While I may not be a bartender in the traditional sense, I aspire to embody those qualities for all of you.
Now, let me delve into some personal reflections.
Growing up, I was never pushed to strive for greatness by my parents. The notion of being average seemed acceptable, and I struggled to see anything special about myself. Consequently, I became dependent on others for validation and self-worth. This led to selfish behaviors and a lack of genuine connection with those around me. Even as I pursued various activities and roles in search of acceptance, I realized my motivations were often self-serving.
Joining the military provided skills and opportunities, but my relationships remained shallow and self-centered. It wasn't until I met my wife, who challenged me and supported me, that I began to confront my shortcomings. However, the journey to self-awareness and acceptance was arduous. I grappled with the realization that true fulfillment couldn't be found through external validation alone.
I've made mistakes along the way, causing pain to my family and neglecting their needs in pursuit of my own desires. Accepting responsibility for these actions has been difficult, as I've often sought excuses to avoid facing the consequences.
Despite these challenges, I've committed myself to personal growth and introspection. Through regular self-care practices and exploration of mindfulness, I've begun to cultivate genuine self-love and empathy for others. While I acknowledge that I still have much to learn and improve upon, I am grateful for the opportunity to share my experiences and support others on their own journeys.
Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable and share a piece of my story with you today. Let's continue to support and uplift one another as we navigate the complexities of life together.
