46 yr old single mom whose life is falling apart
My ex husband alienated my 15 yr old daughter, managed to take 5/6th of the child support for our two kids back despite him making 8 times as much as me. Sad thing is we still have joint custody. My 15 yr old just won’t talk to me. I’ve never been in such a bad place and I’m falling apart physically as well. I feel so alone.
Am so sorry to hear that Sam. Try talking to your daughter everyday and keep sending her messages that you love her everyday without fail. Your daughter will listen to you one day. We are here for you
Hi im new here and your post is the first one I read IM SORRY for what your going thru. I'm a father and I wanna say I understand what your going thru I have not been thru a divorce but have experienced similarity I have a 17yro son and when me and his mother split I went thru a lot with him not talking to me and giving me time and I noticed I was the one that was forcing and putting pressure on the situation and it did not help and I learned to notice and realize that our children don't understand all they know is mom and dad so I took a step back after getting frustrated with the situation and gave him space and he started opening up on his terms us as parents know what is and what is not healthy for our kids but we half to realize that we play a part as well.
Hi. Your situation sounds really tough, just know that you aren’t alone. My son will not talk to his father. He hasn’t for three years. It really hurts me. I have worked on reconnecting with my husband, but he is far away and I haven’t seen him for three years either. I hope that my son will eventually forgive his father and start talking to him again.
@ConfusedSam74 Whats it like being 46?
I divorced 8 years ago and my ex broke contact with our then 12 year old child and hasn’t made any contact with us ever again. Our phone numbers haven’t changed , we live in the same house ( child and me ) but no call,no parcel for birthday , nothing. No birthday wish even, doesn’t pay even though court order, joint custody. Child never went to see him because the first question was always - he didn’t contact me even once after leaving the house
I'm new here and this is my first post too. I'm really sorry to hear of what you're going through. I think, like some other posts have said, "space and hope". Never lose hope/faith... Today I read an article about "radical acceptance" - which is hard to master, but helps you gain control, versus giving up..... Accept what you cannot change. The article said at first it seems like you're being told to ignore your problems or that it's OK to keep things as they are, to give up. But it goes on to state that radical acceptance isn't about giving up control, it's the key to you being able to escape the misery of fighting the same losing battles over and over again. Change what you can, accept the rest, forgive yourself, and as you accept/back off, make sure to not disengage completely - just express love and give them space and hope. Otherwise the pressure may just build more distance and potentially resentment. Have a safe place for them to return when they decide to do so...
