Abandonment and the fear of

I have a great fear of abandonment. Goes back for decades. Have a wife and 4 kids, yet I frequently feel very much alone. Its clear to me that all my kids prefer time with mom. I've tried to be more involved in their lives, I think. Yet I still feel lonely. Funny thing is, if I feel lonely in relationships, I tend to end it first. Or cheat. Any person out there able to relate?

I can relate to how you feel as I been in this situation as well. It's my defensive mechanism to leave so I don't get hurt at all.

Kids tend to go to Moms for their emotional needs and to their dads when they want to have fun. It really isn’t that they love her more. Maybe it’s just your insecurities. Kids need their dad just as much as their mom.

I understand the feeling. I’ve been with my partner now for 20 years, but I still worry that I might do or say something that will make him want to leave.
