Anyone else annoyed by ageism?
Hi! I'm curious does anyone here feel annoyed by ageism? I'm 40. Where I work people seem to say really ageist things to without even thinking. I'm like Wow! That's SO mean!:P
@SLOville2003 I'm in my mid 30's and find that I'm already considered old in my field (tech). So yeah.

What kind of things have they said to you or what kind of ageist things have you heard people say?
Im so sorry, I feel your pain this society is so anti age, I'm in my 50s and going thru CPtsd and I feel completely alone and unimportant. Almost like I had 2 kids (now grown) and my purpose now is just to suffer with CPTSD until I'm gone. Struggling unbelievably! ABB

What is cptsd? What your going through sounds rough:P I hope you know that your thoughts about being unimportant are not true. You do matter even if others don't treat you that way. I hope you find the right people who are encouraging and accepting of you
Hi, thanks for your encouragement CPtsd is complex post traumatic stress disorder. I am working with a Therapist, I have alot to get thru emotionally. I appreciate your support I really like this forum and 7cups. ABB
Our society does not value experience the way it should. Age should make us more valuable, not less. Getting old should not be something we fear, it should not make us feel worthless or alone.
Try not to let what others say trouble you. They dont know you or what you have to offer.

Thanks! My message was in response to the initial thread in this post about ageism. I think its a very real issue and often its impact on people and their lives is not acknowledged. Too many wonderful and talented people get passed over because of the way our society perceives physical age.
I left my job almost 18 years in 2019. And when back to school. It has been super hard fitting into my field because of my age. It really bothers me because I don't "feel" old.
