my life is an emotional mess. Trying to handle family, life, finances and work and dying on the inside. I’m tired and find myself drinking daily and heavily just to get through the day 😞

Hey Stuck1976

Sorry you are feeling an emotional mess, I understand totally, it’s a constant struggle sometimes but hopefully talking about things here will help you feel less overwhelmed and alone. I find it helps me talking on here with people who are experiencing similar issues and even offering support to others seems to make me feel better also so it’s a cathartic mutual supportive environment for me.

A couple weeks ago, my step sister's daughter was found dead in her home. She died of alcohol poisoning. She laid there for 3 days before anybody found her. She was 7 years younger than me.

Please be careful with the drinking. It can cause you to feel worse than you already do. There's only one you ❤

Hello. I am so sorry for the pain you are going through. I can relate to feeling stuck, as I am also going through it.

It sounds like you may be feeling overwhelmed with responsibilties. You very much are entitled to a safe, inner space too. Some place just for you, to feel recharged, or what may resonate with you. Please feel free to connect here, to feel heard and assess what type of support you need.

Is it an option for you to contact a local organization, that assist people with different drinking habbits? Perhaps even online? I imagine they may have many empathetic individuals, who are able to listen, and potentially assist you in aproaching any wanted change. Just something that came to mind.

Wishing you the very best.

@Stuck1976 Drinking is likely going to increase agitation, depression, and rob you of energy you need to deal with what is in front of you. Not to mention, would you hire a daily heavy drinker to help you get out of your problems? Sorry you’re dealing with what sounds like super stressful stuff. I’m glad you’re here asking for help.

If drinking is a problem then why don't you see your GP, get referred for some help. Get a detox if needed and I've taken Acamprosate for years. Helps with craving and a lot more. If AA isn't your cup of tea then there are plenty of SMART groups around. Religion free, based on common sense and manageable goals. And like-minded people in the same boat. GP will help with time off work if necessary.

You still have a lot. Sort yourself out now before you loose it all. Don't blame, even yourself. It's a waste of time. You know what you need to do. Accept the circumstances and take action, please 🙏
