I feel like no one hears me. My last relationship broke up for this reason. I express that fact numerous times til I couldn’t take it anymore. When I express this to people they’re empathetic but still no changes. This has cause me to be withdrawn and not wanting to be around people, this isn’t who I am! This isn’t who I want to be! Even during dating I’m still not being heard when I speak
@HappyToReadYou Hi. It is really important to feel herd. I get really upset when I don’t feel herd. Dr. David burns has a book, “Feeling Good Together.” It’s about the type of communications that strengthen relationships and navigate them out of trouble spots. It might be worth a look. It really helped me. The orientation of the book starts by saying we can’t change others, only ourselves, but when we change ourselves, others change. That is, if we change our communication style, others respond differently. But in a sense, we have to change some “stubborn” inner parts of ourselves. It isn’t that hard though, and it’s really effective, and can really improve our relationships. Recently I felt unheard, and I didn’t think to use these tools, but the result would have been so much better if I had.
The problem isn’t you, but the responsibility for making changes might lie with you. If someone didn’t listen and they should have, you can’t change them directly, but you can say what you need in such a way that they are most likely to respond to you in the way you are wanting.
— All the best
