Hello there
I'm a 40 years old, with anxiety witch is new to me and I'm really confused why would it start at this age , can anyone tell me
Maybe you didn’t pay attention to anxiety before, or didn’t have the time to. And for whatever reason your mind decided now is a good time for you to resolve past conflicts. The mind often used defense mechanisms to protect itself when it’s not convenient to self reflect, but will prompt issues to come up to the conscious mind when it feels that now is a good time to work on past issues. I think the more important question to ask is, what is your anxiety trying to tell you? Mine was trying to tell me that I was constantly allowing my boundaries to be violated, and I needed to make some serious changes.
Hello, I'm sorry you're going through this. Is there something new going on in your life that is making you worried? Anxiety is triggered in people at any time or age for any reason. Sometimes we try to do too much or we try to be strong and eventually our mind, our heart can't deal with it. Big things happen and we don't know how to deal, little things happen that just pile up till it's a big thing. Take time to figure out what has changed that might be where it started. Not all anxiety is triggered by bad things. Sometimes it's a promotion at work, getting married, a new baby, a new house, moving.
Hi, I'm sorry you're experiencing this right now. Anxiety can have its onset at any age, but usually there is a trigger. Are there any recent life events that have been stressful to you, or are you worried about certain situations or aspects in life that feel out of your control? Maybe you faced something recently that opened up an old wound from your past or even your youth and now your body demands of you to deal with it (again). Whatever the cause might be, being kind to yourself is of the utmost importance here! Create a safe-space or retreat to one, like a warm hot bath or on the couch under a blanket watching tv, reach out to a friend and just keep talking. Even if you can't pinpoint the origin of your anxiety right now, staying connected with people you trust will help you get through this. If the anxiety gets overwhelming, or when it keeps you from functioning properly in life or even from enjoying life in general, please understand that what you're feeling is valid and serious, so reach out to a professional to get proper help. You can start with reaching out to your doctor/ general practitioner, they will hear you out, and if necessary, can help you find the right therapist as well. Sending you love and understanding
Hello. I'm in a similar position to you. For most of my life I've lived with low self esteem and a worry that others see me as a bit of an idiot. I'd gotten used to that though so any anxiety was low level and mostly managed. But over the last couple of years it really took off and was no longer just about how I thought others might see me. Everything started getting to me - work, relationships, the state of the world. I still don't know what the trigger was, but it peaked around Christmas last year when I started having panic attacks over some work I was doing. I've heard it said that when you hit your forties, life becomes all about responsibilities - work, family, bills, health and the other stuff that comes with it. It sort of rings true for me. Now that my own anxiety has begun to subside again, I have realised that I've lost a part of who I used to be, so now that's keeping it all bubbling just under the surface. I can't offer any thoughts on how to manage it since my own technique is to keep my head down and get through - about as vague as it gets! I hope things improve for you.
