I feel like winter has made my grieving worse.

I lost my husband on Memorial Day weekend this year and I feel like I’m struggling with it worse now then, I was in the first few months. I am a preschool teacher and it’s a job that I love doing, and was something I was really good at. Since his death I feel like I have progressively gotten worse at my job, maintaining our home, being a good mom to our children. The first few months I was so focused on the kids and their grieving so maybe it’s just now hitting me. But it seems like the cold and miserable weather lately has taken the last bit of fight left in me. Also my mother keeps making comments about how I need to get over it and move on..which I thought I had been doing, it kills me that my own mother could be so cold about it all.

I'm so sorry for your loss. May your beloved husband rest in peace 🙏 I think your mother shouldn't tell you to "get over it". That's terrible, but then again, she probably doesn't understand how it feels. It's gonna take time. However long it takes. I'm sure the dreary winter weather doesn't help either. I'm a single mother to an autistic child and we are alone. My mother used to help babysit before she went into the nursing home and lost her mind. She's schizophrenic and completely delusional. We used to live in the same neighborhood and I'd see her almost daily. She went into the nursing home 3 years ago it'll be in February and I'm still not used to her being gone physically and mentally. I couldn't imagine losing a spouse in that way. My heart goes out to you.
