One look

I have been trying to keep my emotions in check. My husband is an avoider and doesn't know how or like to express emotion. Building emotional intimacy in our marriage is very difficult. I am trying to educate myself on ways to help him, but at times I am so frusted that he doesn't seem to understand or care why this is such an important thing for me. He gave me one look as soon as he got home that triggered my anger, and after a difficult week of work and feeling down about our marriage, I lost my cool and started yelling. I was upset that he didn't understand what I meant by what I said and I felt like I frustrated him. I guess I feel like I need him not to be mad at me because then I feel alone and unloved. I already feel alone in my emotions and I am sad because I don't know how to make our marriage better. Really just looking for words of encouragement and not judgment.

@LavenderFriend6

Yes, I’ve been reading the book on avoidant/anxious/normal relationships and the situation sounds challenging indeed.

Good for you for hanging in there with someone with avoidant behaviours and allowing yourself to ask for help and express your emotions.

We are not taught these things in school so bravo for being brave enough to forge your own path in life...just keep being the fabulous, wonderful pineapple you are - strong on the outside, sweet on the inside and always wearing a crown! 👑 🍍 😃

Hey hey

Just sharing what I feel could be relevant.

There're a lot of relationship counsellors, and then there are relationship astrologers. Both look into the deep relationship dynamics. I hope you stumble upon someone who could help you, or even drag your significant other in one of such meetings somehow someday maybe.

I am not sure if it can help. I'm just familiar with individual horoscopy and personally trying to excavate my own patterns through this lens. So, I've been working on this(if you want to talk sometime, feel free to knock), but I feel like relationship counselling or astrology can help. Where counselling needs 2 people maybe, astrology will need just you and much would be solved, in my opinion.

Hope the balance tilts on your side soon, and your cup gets filled again. 🔆

You are not alone in having this communication with your husband, mine too, men don’t seem to want to share emotional feelings well and this does build up in me too till I lose it, but We keep praying and trying.

He may think that not getting emotional or showing frustration may be a positive. He may think that he is holding it together and not getting worked up for the sake of keeping you calm. But the reaction of you shows otherwise. I am in a similar situation like yourself. I am working so hard to not let my anger overcome me over the slightest thing.
