Please help
I got hit by a car in Nov of 2020 and I'm pretty sure I have ptsd from it. Every loud noise I'm jumping out of my skin where I never used to before. I'm on anxiety meds bc it was to the point where I couldn't breathe and my chest would hurt. The accident happened right outside my work so I cant even walk to work anymore. I have to drive. I have 1 more doctors appt and then we'll be going to court bc I'm suing the person. I'm super nervous and worried about that cuz obviously I've never been to court before and I don't want to relive all that. Every time my husband took off my bandages I was in tears. I got very lucky. If i hadn't put my backpack on my left arm I would've broke my arm and shattered my head. And if she wouldn't have stopped she would've ran my legs over. I also have depression on top of all this and its becoming all too much. I just want to be done with it all. I'm exhausted😢
Have you tried reaching out to a therapist. Your attorney may know one or your Dr., Some workplaces offer mental health services. I'm in therapy for CPTSD . It helps and I recommend it. I'm so sorry about what happened to you and that you were injured badly. That's just so scary. Best 💜 ABB
I had a similar accident as you about 4 years ago. It took me approximately a year to recover 2/3s and an additional year to fully recover. My advice to you will be the advice my nurse gave me. That is, you can not stop driving. I understand 100 percent that in your first year you will struggle to not scream or hallucinate and see things that aren't there. Like a vehicle coming your way or anything related to your incident. I know because it happened to me. It is good you are aware of your ptsd triggers. After you have a trigger remind your self. (Try to stay logical through the fear and remind your self and double check that everything is fine.) Tell yourself "you're okay this is just a trigger you're okay it's all in your head you are fine. Rubyour own arm, wrist be your own support if you have to and repeat this for as long as you have to. Tell yourself you love you and all will be okay. Talk to yourself as a 3rd person. And continue to drive on the same road your incident happened. Because if you do not do these things and if you allow you ptsd to stop you from getting back on the road you can and will stay traumatized forever. So like I said I've overcame it and I know you can too. 💜 I hope this helps some and good luck.
