Want to be loved

Hi, I’ve been having dreams of finding love and waking up from those dreams just make me feel even lonelier. I have been alone for most of my twenties and started dating 2 years ago. Now I’m 33 and still single. I feel like these days I can only experience romance in my dreams. I don’t even remember the last time someone made me feel butterflies in my stomach in real life. It’s so sad. I feel sad for myself. I’m trying hard to think of ways to meet people but I’m a natural loner so it’s always a uphill battle. My hope for meeting someone is low these days. How can I have lived for 33 years and not have found someone to love and to live me back? Waking up in the morning I don’t even want to get out of bed. I just want to remember the lover I met in my dream and stay there. Hold on to those feelings of being loved and wanted for as long as I can. Just wanted to get my feelings out here. Does anyone have a similar experience being single and lonely?

Hi there,

I have the same experience as you on wanting to find partner in life. I am also finds it hard to interact with people because of past hurts, abandonment, level of confidence and depression hence it is not really helping me to find partner. Finding its even harder to interact with the opposite gender because past traumas (had to hear nasty things about my outward appearance). My situation is also not good because I like to read comics and watch dramas so most of the times expectations of someone who should be my partner is too high because related to fantasy in comics and dramas. Relationship has to be build in a long time and it's more complex than what I read in comics and dramas.

I am not sure if it helps but joining hobby clubs or sports clubs might help you to find lover because you can talk with common activities or things that you like to do. You could also do volunteering jobs that includes working with other people...you might get to know some people there. You could also join working adults fellowship at church if you are Christian. I find dating apps to be the last resort because I heard not so much good things happened to people in dating apps (might be because i had not much experience with the apps)...

I am 36 and still single, and you are not really alone in wanting to find partner. But for me is not to ease loneliness...because the cure for loneliness from my view is not only by getting partner, but it can be by the love that is given by God and others, such as my parents and siblings and friends.

Yes buddy. I relate pretty much with wat u said. Really longing for love.... Just stay in bed for loong even before starting my day. But one thing unique ABT myself is that I'm enjoying my solitude. It's not lonliness anymore. It's all my space and my time. No disturbances. I can spend a lot of time with myself. I talk to myself , cook for myself, care for my physical and ment health, work outs etc etc. This does not mean I'm shying away from ppl. I do enjoy other's company and really love to have a partner too. Cos I really miss that romance part in my life. So seeking to find some one but not in a hurry. Cos at the end I am happy with what i have🙂
