Hi Cuppies 👋 It's your old pal, SweetPea here. Bored and lonely as usual. I'm having trouble viewing the "Where is everybody?" thread, so I figured I'd make a new one. I prefer to use the app instead of the website. On the app it stopped showing responses.
So here we are again, ready to turn up on a Monday afternoon (or Tuesday if you live in Australia).

Hi Cuppies 👋 It's Thirsty Thursday! Ladies drink for free...or at least they used to back in my day lol. Nothing's free anymore now that we have skrinkflation. Speaking of inflation and such, I just found out that my favorite little cafe is closing its doors for good. After 80 plus years of being in business, they weren't able to bounce back from the pandemic and "the cost of goods is too high" the owner said. I've been going there since I was a little pea with my parents and other family members. I've taken my daughter there as well. Back in the 80s we would sit in the smoking section so my Dad could smoke and it never failed...I always knocked over a drink and spilled it either on him or myself. They also had the cutest little jukeboxes in every booth so you could play songs and disturb the people next to you. This is one of the songs I used to play-

And there was this pea-utiful waitress named Barb who looked like a real life Barbie Doll to me. One time I asked her for her autograph and she gave it to me on one of those Guest Check slips. She was a celebrity in my eyes lol.
I'm gonna miss that place. They had the best caramel rolls.
Awww times are a changing. Sad when thing like that happen. Missed you Sweetpea, I was having pea withdrawals I think 😂. I hope you are doing well. I was supposed to go for lunch with a friend today at a pub on the esplanade overlooking the water but it’s unfortunately pissing down rain and thunderstorms so I just called him and we took a literal rain check and will do it next Wednesday when the weather clears up.
Hugs! @Insertnamehere82 🤗🤗🤗 I'm doing alright. Thanks for asking. I visited my mom in the nursing home today. Brought her some new winter clothes, some slippers, snacks and a new blanket. We had a longer visit and it was good. She usually tells me I have to go after about 20 to 30 minutes because the voices in her head say so, but today she didn't. Although she spent half the time talking to imaginary people, it was so nice to see her face and be around her. I miss how she used to be and sometimes it makes me cry after our visits. I just wish she wouldn't refuse her psych meds so she could get better.
Now, on to you...has the rain stopped peeing lol? Are you feeling ok? How's life?
So sorry about your Mom. My mum has Parkinson’s and has really gone down hill the last 2 years or so. I can totally understand the crying after seeing them in such a bad state and missing them being their old selves. It breaks your heart seeing them so debilitated and having such a hard time. I basically cry the 45min drive home from their place.. I keep hoping it will get easier but it doesn’t really, but you start to come to terms with it I guess. Also scares me for my future… I think I want to check out before I get too debilitated and can’t look after myself. That thought scares the hell out of me…
Pissing down is a Aussie saying I thing. Lol. It’s our slang for heavy rain. I realised after sending it that might sound weird to the uninitiated 😅. We are getting heavy rain for a week all across the eastern coast and hopefully it drys up for a while. I need to mow my lawn badly. It’s going to be a jungle by the time it drys out and I can get to it.
life’s ok thanks… I’ve been “better” since isolating myself again and unfortunately having to push some people away so I can manage my life better without the extra unnecessary stress and pressure after realising that trying to talk through things was not working for either of us.
Thanks. It's been two years since she moved into the nursing home and her mental health went down hill. I thought I came to terms with it, but I guess not. I just feel so alone without her now. We used to live in the same neighborhood and now she lives out of town. I feel sorry that my daughter doesn't have much family to spend time with. I'm also afraid that I'm going to end up like her, with schizophrenia. I've already had hallucinations and delusions, but I take the medication for that.
It sounds like you're going through a breakup or just getting rid of bad people in your life 🤔

Yes I understand and have experienced the same but different. I definitely worry that I might end up like my Mum also but with Parkinson’s and bad anxiety and needing to be looked after… not sure I want to get that bad and not be able to do anything about it and rely on others and not have independence.
Yes I’m currently going through some tough times with my partner unfortunately…. Pretty complicated situation. I thought we were on the same page and didn’t have competing agendas and our communication was strong but unfortunately it’s been difficult lately for both of us. Lots more to it but you would need to become my listener so we could talk privately because this is not what this thread is about and prefer to talk privately about the whole situation and details. So that’s been really bothering me lately and got me questioning if I’m just happier on my own because it’s just easier to deal with life without feeling confused by others assumptions about why you do the things you do… and their judgment of it. Dunno if that makes sense.. 🤷♂️

I hope you have both been well… I’ve been struggling a bit lately so apologies for not being around much. 😔
Trying to deal with a lot at the moment and as always, problems in my life come in clusters at the worst time possible.
It is getting hot in Brisbane now after a very wet and cool snap last week. We basically go from winter straight into summer weather so the aircon is now off heating mode and on cooling mode now already. I’ve got to get solar panels installed assp because electricity has gone up so much last bill. I just can’t stand the idea of getting it done and having to deal with the tradesmen and will drive my dog crazy whilst they are working on my roof. Sigh. But I need to just bite the bullet and get it done asap. I would feel much better knowing that the sun is powering my house aircon units which is much better for both my wallet and the environment.
No worries, my friend 🤗 It's kind of hard to post everyday anyways. Me and my imaginary friends are fine on this Wednesday morning. I'm sitting in my car, about to have a breakfast biscuit to kill some time until my 8:30 therapy appointment, Yay! I get to talk about me me me!
I looked up Brisbane's weather after reading about your aircon being set to cool now. Looks like January is your hottest month and July is your coldest. Weird! It's opposite for us.
Solar panels, good for the environment...sounds good to me.

Lol. Breakfast biscuits sounds very American 😂. I’m sure it’s yummy but I have no idea what it actually is… assuming it’s not like a cookie which is what we call biscuits 🍪 so I’m imagining an egg and bacon chocolate chip cookie breakfast monstrosity 😂. But I’m sure it’s probably like an American version of a scone or something. 🤷♂️
I hope you had a good therapy session and enjoyed your breakfast bickies (that’s our slang pluralised version of biscuit) so you say I’ll have some bickies please if you wanted more than one rather than asking for some biscuits please) We call MacDonald Maccas.. Service Stations we call Servo’s… 7/11 Sev’s. It’s too hot in Australia to finish full words so this works for us. 😂
Apparently the difference between scones and biscuits is that scones contain egg. Our breakfast biscuits have sausage or bacon and eggs in between them. I had mine with sausage and cheese only. Pretty plain.
My therapy sess (shortening words like an aussie) was great! I went on and on about myself and didn't even feel bad about it.
Today in Minnesota, it's peeing down rain. More like tinkling down. It's looking very gloomy outside as I gaze out my window. I almost wanna take a nap, but I have things to do this after (short for afternoon).
The neighbor boy told me there was a hornet nest by my living room window and I said, "I put it there to keep you noisy kids away from my window!" He didn't believe me 😄 I was wondering why they stopped playing in the backyard.
hahahahha. Hornet protection from noisy kids sounds great. Hopefully they are not the Murder Hornets I’ve heard are taking over America.
the correct Aussie/English informal shorting of session would be “Sesh”

you guess shortening words is a lot more complex than just shortening them… we also change the spelling to the new phonetic sound of the shortened word. 😂
So main difference between Bickies and Scones is that Scones are mostly sweet filled with whipped cream and strawberry Jam… aka (Jelly) but they would probably be good savoury with sausage and cheese and egg instead of a muffin. 🤤

I'm not sure what kind of hornets they are and I don't wanna check lol. I did pronounce sess as "sesh" in my mind. I asked Google what the difference was between scones and biscuits and that's what it told me...eggs 🤷♀️ I should know by now that you can't always trust Google.

Happy Friday, Cuppies! We're having breakfast for dinner tonight. Eggs, sausage and French toast. The tables have turned! Maybe we'll wear our shoes on our hands and gloves on our feet since we're living backwards now.
It's currently 59°F in Minnesota. Pretty nice Fall day. After dinner we'll go for a bike ride/walk. I'll walk while my daughter rides her bike. Then after she goes to sleep the party will start! The party in my head, that is 🤪 I don't have a life! What are you doing tonight or today?
Happy Saturday, everybody! Time to hide from the Jehovah's Witnesses. They like to come a-knocking on Saturdays 😱 So what is going on with everybody tonight? It's another nice day here and now that the JWs have already knocked, we can go out for a neighborhood walk and bike ride, yay!

Hope you all had a good Halloween 🎃 I was so tired, we accidentally knocked on the same door because I hadn't noticed that we already went down that street until my daughter pointed out the house next door where the greedy older girl took all of the candy from the unattended bowl. I thought that guy looked familiar 🤔 Oh well...he gave us candy and didn't say anything lol.
