Hey, lovely people.

I am in a situation at work and I need to vent. I work in a company that has many projects in different countries. I have managers from company side and from project side. For the past 2 years, I have been assigned to a project, that I do not like. I am staying just because I like my colleague and don't want to leave her alone with that mess. But now she is pregnant and she will leave in the summer. I told my manager (project side) that I want to be assigned to another project, and of course she did not agree. She promised to have another talk in June and meanwhile to find another person to be a replacement for my colleague. She said the new person will start in May. Well...no new person has started yet and I doubt that the manager would agree for me to leave and she will try to persuade me to stay again. I am getting really frustrated. First with myself that I let her (the manager) to persuade me to stay and I did not stand my ground and now I know it will happen the same, I am just like that...Staying for two years in a project that you don't like, it takes some level of stupidity and ignoring yourself...Anyway. I talked to the managers in my office, and they said that it's the project manager that has to start the process of reassignment and they can not do it. Which is ridiculous bureaucracy.

I don't want to leave the company, I have been here for almost 4 years and the people in my country are great (the project manager is not in my country, neither is the whole team I work with).I hate the idea of going to interviews again and feeling stupid while being questioned 😤 So I feel kind of stuck, I hate the project, I don't learn and grow there, I just deal with a severe data mess, it is never ever easy to do something, it is always stressfull and annoying. But then I hate interviews where I don't feel I present myself well and I never know if the next company or project will be good or still the same ****. I don't know what to do. I am just really demotivated.

Sorry about the situation. I know how it feels to be in a predicament at work and be unhappy. I will say leaving is a leap of faith and may or may not work out, so I can't advise you to leave. I have found happiness in working freelance so to speak. This year I have been working as an independent contractor in healthcare through companies that are called registries. I don't know if there are registries in your field but if there are you should look into them. I kept my job that I didn't like and worked thru a registry on one of my off days and I liked it. I didn't leave my permanent job until I was sure I could get per diem work thru the registry. I can also work when I want and take days off when I want but I still have to be careful that I make enough money to support myself. The interviews are kinda scary but so far I have done well in the interviews.
