hey guys. i'm currently in this sotuation:

i dropped out, all my "friends" still go to school, i isolated myself cause i needed to get better.

here i am now, having talked to them after a while, and one of them says that i should make an effort and text them.

but like.. over the course of TWO MONTHS no one texted me. no one tried to talk to me, nor did they try to get me into calls or anything.

am i in the right to say that i'm done? am i in the right to say that they should start making efforts cause whatever i do doesnt seem to be enough?

i'm just kinda lost :,)

Hi, I'm sorry about your situation. It is understandable that you are angry because no one has ever bothered to write to you in those two months. Did you ask the reasons? As you have had your reasons for isolating yourself, they may have had their reasons for not texting you. I think you all need to make an effort to reach out to each other if you want to maintain this friendship. In every relationship it is important that everyone knows how to do their part and that they take their own responsibilities. So I don't know how to give you a precise answer, I suggest you to talk to your friends about how you feel if you have the opportunity, also being open to hearing what they have to say. Hope things can be resolved soon, we all need good friends in our life and if you feel it might be worth it, have this conversation with them :)

That's a hard situation to be in, and you are completely valid to feel frustrated with them. After leaving school where you're around peers constantly, it's harder to keep in touch. A friend should have reached out to check on you, or just say they miss you.

Maybe they thought you would want some space after dropping out? They may have thought they were being kind by stepping back.

You could try reaching out first a few times, but they need to do the same. It's not a great feeling to always be the first to talk to a friend, and you are completely valid to decide you've tried enough and not felt it reciprocated.

I hope you find people willing to put in as much effort as you are to stay friends.
