How did you feel when you turned 35?

Hey all!

So I noticed that when I turned 35, it really hit me that this life goes by soooooo freaking fast and just to enjoy everyday. I feel like I was already feeling that way at 30, but it's like I blinked and, bam, five years were gone. The passage of time really weighs heavy on me at times.

Particularly because my friends circle ranges from people in their 20s to 30s. While I enjoy all of those associations, I find that my time spent with the younger crowd has the effect of making me think about my life when I was their age.

Through a set of circumstances and familial trauma, I honestly didn't get to enjoy anything close to a clinically normal 20s. And it's like, while I can associate (and vibe) with those of that group, mentally I still know that I am my age, haha.

But yeah, how did you all feel upon turning 35?

I realized that I took for granted where I grew up. I've spent much time away from home and now I'm realizing I need to go back.

Thank you so much for your reply! What was/is it about home for you that is inspiring you to return?

In fact, your post reminded me of this Elton John song from a few years back called "Home Again" I'll share it here:

I turned 35 this year. And it felt weird for sure. I don't feel like i'm me. I feel like living in another persons body. I have put on weight, i have a fat belly, i have body pain, back pain and what not. 35 shouldn't feel way right. I am not getting any younger. I know i should embrace myself no matter what but i just fail to do it. Nevertheless i am considering this as a phase and hope it will pass.

P.S. I don't wanna grow up :(

I can relate to that (in my own way). I've had a literal up and down weight-loss journey for the last few years. And I'm starting to realize, that well into my mid-30s (and with cerebral palsy), that I don't have much margin for error *not* to stay on top of things with my body.

Because I can very much also relate to the body pain and aches.

Do you have peers that you can talk to that are perhaps going through a similar journey?
