Intro
Hi! I’m 42, married for 18 years, together for 26. 3 kids, all teens. My dad died 6 months ago, my father in law 1 month ago. Hubs and I are bickering a lot. Hoping to learn healthy ways to deal with all of life’s stress.
I find that in times of stress my husband and I go back to things that sparked our relationship so we can focus on something happy in dark times. I’m sorry to hear that death has occurred on you family back to back. Death is the only thing certain about life and yet it is the hardest to deal with at times. Be encouraged and lean on each other for support instead of pushing each other away.
Set aside a date night. Expect it to go awful the first few or several times. I remember one date night and my husband brought up his mom who we missed. I originally thought how bad it was supposed to be a good night out. But in hindsight he was finally opening up and letting it out. Just keep doing it. Alone and mourning is harder than toga for mourning. And make sure your kids know it is ok to miss their loved one.
i blow up at my husband when i’m stressed. Totally understand! I need to learn coping skills
@tealKitten4887 I feel that. Lately my fiancé have been having a lot of upsets too. Relationship insecurities, past history between us, our teen daughter and her problems... Totally understand
I'm single but wish I was happily married. I'm finding it harder to cope and feeling overwhelmed with stuff and lonely, and I think having someone would help, but at the same time I have so much to deal with and am waiting for therapy so then I think I am not in a good place to meet someone...and all the while the clock is ticking...
