New here
I’m 45, happily married and an empty nester. My husband and I have two daughters, both of whom are my stepdaughters. I helped raise them from the time they were 8 and 10. They are now 23 and 25 and somewhat on their own. I work in child welfare and find myself fighting compassion fatigue a lot right now. I’m looking forward to sharing this journey to mental wellness with everyone.
@philosophicalOcean6226 Welcome to 7 Cups, Ocean! It's great to have you here. It sounds like you have a rich life with a loving family and a fulfilling career in child welfare. I can imagine that raising your stepdaughters and now seeing them grow and become more independent must bring a mix of emotions.
Hi Philo, I shortened your name. I hope that's ok. I'm a newbie here myself and still figuring things out. I'm 58 though so I understand if you want to talk to younger than me. I had a daughter who passed away at 15, and stepdaughter that is in her 30s now. I was a child care director for awhile but after losing my daughter I just couldn't do that anymore. Sorry if this is way too much sharing right now. I'm still learning. Have a Happy evening 🙂
I am 42. I am open to having conversations about the important things of life.
@philosophicalOcean6226 Hello there. Thanks so much for stepping up and introducing yourself! I can relate to compassion fatigue. It can be somewhat draining to constantly give, and not have much time to fill up your own tank.
