I am a 37 year old woman-never married, no kids. Just moved to a city where I don't know many people. Hoping to meet some people here who understand the loneliness.

It's tough to adjust yourself in a completely new place when you don't have people around you. I hope you can find the way to deal with the loneliness.

Also new to 7 cups myself, welcome and yes I find myself in a similar situation. Moved thousands of miles away from home and miss friends and family at times, all for work. The loneliness is tougher in the late night, I can only escape through books and films so much.

Hello @Ckatt84,

I also live in a town that I have been living here for almost 2 years and it sucks because I don’t know anyone and it makes you feel so lonely. I do have kids and well my family live like an hour away from me, my other older kids which are (Boys) don’t live with me and honestly they are never there for me I want them to be. My (girls) are younger but they are all in their thing such as being in their phones so no attention for mom. So I completely understand the loneliness I’m also looking for people that are whiling to understand what I’m going through. I have meet a lot of them here and some of them are awesome but I can’t wait to meet more since I love to meet new people from all over. Take care..

Aww thanks for the kind reply! I've only been here for about 3 months. I used to live here before but moved back East for 3 years so most of my friends here have moved on. I've reconnected with a few, but not in a deep or meaningful way, if you know what I mean. I can afford to join any clubs or classes, so I'm trying to do online meetups and things, but they feel very impersonal.

2 years is quite awhile, but yeah, sounds like you moved not long before covid so that's kind of bad timing! I don't really know what to tell you since we are suffering from the same thing, but I wouldn't take your kids' attitudes personally. What you're describing sounds pretty normal for their ages. :)

@Ckatt84,

No problem :) that is what we are here for to help and listen to one another when we can. Yes where I currently live now is actually a town and well it does help with my anxiety a lot. Because theirs not a lot of people here like the city I just to live before, so yeah everyone here kind of knows each other already. I did meet a few people when i just to work at a gas station here, but i wouldn’t consider them friends, only people I meet. I did meet a while ago a person and we become best friends we just to hang out and text and call each other everyday. But she passed away a year ago i miss her like crazy she was the only person that could understand me and was always there for me. I think when we meet we connected immediately because we were going through the same situation I loved her so much. I don’t think I will meet a person like she was and I wish I had a friend right now, but right now not even my own neighbors talk to me. My kids are if you can say teenagers so of course they feel awkward talking to their mom they even think I’m weird lol. I also use online to see if i can meet people just to vent and to talk to, but now a days its really hard to find people to have that time you know. Right now where I currently live it’s kind of boring my older kids always tell me mom why did you have to move out here theirs nothing to do, or people to talk to. And they are right all my family are 1 hour away from me, so if i want to see them I have to drive all the way out there. But I’m trying to move back where all my family is see if maybe my anxiety or depression goes away for a little bit. All I do over here is feel low on energy and not whiling to do anything.. but don’t hesitate to reach out to me if you feel that you want to chat, I think the only way yo chat is through the thread our chat rooms.

Hello @ckatt84. I’m 35 male divorced no kids. Moved 1200 miles away about two years ago to a small town in Florida. I understand how you feel. I still only know the two family members I live. Sitting around all day with nothing but your own thoughts in an empty place can be very overwhelming. Even trying to find things to keep you occupied can be difficult. But at least it seems like you are trying, just like the rest of us on here, to get and feel better. Wish you the best of luck and never give up.
