When I returned after 4 years and saw my "wolf" again, gavi him a salami, he was skinny as a ghost from misstreatment and he recognised me, did not want to eat his salami right away but came to me and I saw in his eyes all his gratitude for the strawberries I gave him...and all the good times...my compliment was seeing the light again in those faded eyes when I met "him" again...in rest, i guess compliments went past me since I was never a vanitous narcisist compliments collector, may have been thankful for them on the moment if genuine but never meant to collect them for my ego. In school, pupils were supposed to elect a class president, so they elected me. The one who had connections, money but no popularity started crying so I said I will cede presidency to him so I got a good beating from the sports classmaster for dodging responsibility but I knew my class loved me and the poor ambitious egotistic kid got his craved presidency😉. At the end of the eight grade I hade no podium prise but just a mention with two fellow girl classmates and when they called my name the room got wild like never before...they loved me because like my math teacher said, cosmin, after the summer holliday I know everyone copied your homework summer book...and I said no maam, just messed by the countryside😔
This last month I got the best compliment ever. I was at my job and a girl came up to me and said I was really pretty. To understand why this is so signficant requires context. I was born with a birthmark called a hemangioma on my nose. I've had 11 surgeries since then and it's very hard to tell there was anything there in the first place.
It didn't matter though because people never tell me I'm pretty. The fact that this girl said not that I "looked" pretty but that I "was" pretty held so much weight for me. I almost wanted to cry. It was like my prettiness was a quality, not just a temporary state. It kind of left me parched for more compliments like that.
@Tazzie I think it's when someone told me I was a good human being, that touched me. 
Honestly each time someone I have talked to here says I really helped them and thanks me for taking my time to talk to them. I don't feel like I am doing all that much besides being a comforting shoulder basically, but it is nice to know I was able to help someone.
The best that I can remember was from a person I did not recognize at all, who called over to me and asked if I was continuing with my music. I told him I was, and thanked him. He must have heard me at one of our open mike nights.
