Older Adults Perceptions of Technology

Recently I read an article which I found very interesting so I decided to make a post about it.
Older Adults Perceptions of Technology and Barriers to Interacting with new Technology
New technologies provide opportunities for making our daily routines much easier, but technology moves very fast and it can be hard to keep up.
Possible barriers are e.g., lack of instructions and guidance, lack of knowledge and confidence, too much and too complex technology, feelings of inadequacy, and comparison with younger generations.
Some research work shows that older adults show a great deal of interest to adopt new technology and willing to learn it but pointed out that there is not enough support, manuals are difficult to understand.
What is technology for you? What does the word technology bring to mind?

I kind of stick with what works, and rely on my children to alert me to anything they think that has come out that is better.
Douglas Adams used to say that you should never trust anything that is smaller than its operating manual. But they cheat nowadays by often expecting you to download that, or read it online.
I havn't gone the Alexa route. I was interested to read that many adults say that it has reduced their time on computers and phones, we spend so much time looking for answers, and also that they listen to more music now. I think it might drive me mad.

Quite an interesting point, not spending so much time looking for answers but using it for something which benefits us for sure. Something to think about. I wonder whether we already have most of the answers but just did not find them inside.

@DavidEss. If I had said to you, what you say to me. It would have been deleted. Difference is you are a man and I am a woman. Theres a bias even here at 7 cups.

Thanks for replying - actually my experience in life is that when a woman questions a man's behaviour , it's the man who is more likely to be questioned , but no matter .
My post questioned whether people on here were trying to offend you, or whether you were being offender despite their wishes to help you.
I think that within the context of a site like 7cups, that question itself would be seen as a wish to help you. And I would also want to question any assumptions you might have that listeners who have spent hours and hours on here working with people who have been grateful for their help, would even dream about wanting to hurt or insult or offend you.
I agree with you that we must question and challenge bias.
