Support Session Topic Requests
We are a ways off with having an support session, but progress has been made and I envision us starting something up by the end of August. If we can't meet that deadline, we'll establish a new one, and keep on keeping on. Failure to meet said deadline will be blamed on my neighbor who doesn't speak English, has no idea this site exists, has no idea I'm nominating him as the blame person, and may or may not be a figament of my incredibly over-active imagination.
That being said..
A big part of support sessions are having a topic to discuss in advance to allow those involved a bit of time to pull something together.
What do you the members of 50+ have in mind for a discussion in a groupchat room? It is looking like it will be a pop up room, which is a room opened specifically for a discussion and then closed. So not an open free for all chatroom.
So yeah.. now that I've repeated myself 3 times and doubled back twice,
Your thoughts for discussion topics?
@DaveMcGrath
i like a good open free for all occassionally, but for topics, i can contribute on learning skills, such as: CBT, DBT, EMDR, Panic Management and Coping Skills, Living in poverty (tricks of the trade), healthy meal prep, Diabetes managment, cognitive maintainance and recovery, alternative therapies and treatments (acupuncture, hypnosis, meditation, binaural beats, posture therapy, and some aroma therapy).
i am also well versed in the usefulness of the provisions of the Americans with Disabilites Act, the Federal Rehabilitation Act (both useful in dealing with agencies and medical practitioners), and have worked as an 'Independent Living Specialist'....
i love to share and be helpful~! i look forward to getting to know you better~
@DaveMcGrath how about "What does the 50+ Group mean to me?"
@soulsings @DaveMcGrath
Good question Soul!
Well to me it means to support elder people in a space dedicated to them. Would love to focus in forum and a 50+ room either with free conversations and by hosting specific discussions.
To develop topics that may be of interest of elder people is a good goal I would reach and maintain with members of 50+ subcommunity and its leader. Topics can be offered either in Forum and with discussions in the room.
Each of us can enrich someone else's life with something and if we work together we can do it, yes?
Soul I have a request for you... a mindfulness space dedicated to elder people! Like once a month? In Forum or, why not, in the 50+ room?
Maybe you're too busy for that but dreaming it may happen is not forbidden
@BeyondTheInvisible yes I like the idea of a once a month mindfulness session for 50+ - we might have that as part of a series of Coping with the Second Half Of life.
I would enjoy a nice relaxed space with no emojis, no tagging, just plain folk having plain folk conversations myself. A little break from the usual 7 cups natter which I don't mind but at times find abrasive.
@DaveMcGrath I like a relaxed space although how do you stop people from hearting posts? Or maybe you just mean emojis in the text. I guess emojis for me enhance what I am saying so people know what I am feeling.
