How to fix broken relationships as we age

Fixing a broken relationship in your life as we age requires shifting the focus from winning an old argument to building safety, emotional safety, accountability for the arguments, and present-day peace. Forgiving someone for something done or said is a chocie we are given to mending an arguement we had with someone.

When we reconcile with a person we are bringing peace to the siutation, reconciling with trust from both parties, and taking accountability for our own actions. You can not force someone to apoligize or take credit for their actions, that has to come from the particular person. They have to want to admit to their mistakes and make mends for it.

We have to self-forgive ourselves for the actions and words we used. We give a genuine apology to the person for the words or actions we used in the arguement. We can only apology for ourselves and how we acted hoping that the other person accepts the apology.

When the other person is speaking their concerns and talking to you, we need to be actively listening to their words and allow them to express themselves properly. When all have been said and done both parties will come up with a way to fix what has happened, and hope it does not happen again.

Sometimes things are said or acted on in anger, and sometimes we do not mean to do or say things we did toward others. We admit our faults and work on rebuilding a trust for ourselves and the other party . 

As we age we grow boundaries so we are not hurt by words or actions of others, because we want to just get along with everyone we come across.  We all are not perfect and mistakes will be made in life. We admit sometimes to our faults by asking for help, listening to feedback even if it is not what we want to hear.

How can we mend past relationships so we can move on in life ?
