Weekend Check-In April 26-28, 2019

Hi beautiful people in the 50+ community
How are you feeling today, how was your week?
This is a quote I like to give you on your way into the weekend.
Be gentle with yourself, learn to love yourself, to forgive yourself, for only as we have the right attitude toward ourselves can we have the right attitude toward others.
Positive affirmations can enhance your love for yourself, here are some examples:
I approve of myself. I love myself deeply and fully.
I am worthy of love and joy.
My life is a gift. I will use this gift with confidence, joy, and exuberance.

Good morning, another awful week but a few glimmers of hope. Not looking forward to the weekend as usual.
@ruffneckred
Sorry that your week did not go well and weekend does not look promising. What could you do to get some highlights in the weekend?
@ruffneckred This is my first weekend with 7 cups... are folks still available if you need someone to listen or talk to? I wish you peace... slow and steady peace.
@Lifer
thanks, I have a few listeners, and also the standard bad listener / ghosting experience. I tend to over speak and tire of the situation much to easily
@ruffneckred A few glimmers of hope is something to grow from. Keep that hope up :)
@mija123
thank you, the glimmers come with a boatload of anxiety but that is par for the course, have a great day
Hi all. Week was okay, not too bad. Not too enthusiastic about the weekend. Where I am it is very rainy & dreary all weekend. April showers.... and all that! Thanks for asking
I like the things you have gathered here. My week has been...fruitful. I kept some promises for doctor appts, visited nursing homes for my mother, stuck to my house cleaning routine and also secured some teaching assistant jobs for the summer. I guess Im feeling the energy of spring. 🌱🌷 I still like the Deepak Chopra mantra meditation that says something about effortlessly. I dont remember the exact phrase, but I do find that Im aware of easing into things as I think of the word.
I was up during the middle of the night but able to go back to sleep thankfully. I listened to 3 sleepcast from Headspace and 1 TedTalk on making mistakes. I realize that I'm not sick because life dealt me a crappy hand or circumstances occurred and I got Sh@#! on by life.... I'm filled with anxiety because I made the studpid mistake....NO ONE BUT ME! So, I'm learning to accept my mistake and as I said yesterday- LET IT GO and take today as it comes, it's a NEW day with NEW possiblities.
@Lifer positive words! I wish you the best on your journey
I am new to 50+ , I am going through some very difficult times, but I am not throwing in the towel, I slept ok last night for 2nd time in many months, so hope everyone has a great weekend ❤
@jr50 Hello. If you need listener or just someone to talk to feel free to text me.❤
@amiablePeace77. Hi. Im new to this thread. I dont feel well mentally. I had a hip replacement 2 months ago and my muscles in my leg still burn like crazy. I thought Id be well by now. This is my first time with surgery or lengthy sickness and it is making me feel very old. I am 61.
@Itstoughouthere Hello. If you need someone to talk to feel free to text me. I am here for you.❤😊
Also both of my adult children live far away and I feel very empty. I don
@Itstoughouthere Not sure what country you are in, but meetup.com has lots of way to connect with people for dinners, hobbies and all sorts of interesting things in the US. Honestly any little thing you try new in the week can help make things different and help you to see possibilities. My sister-in-law said she had no hobbies or interests and now she likes decorating, refinishing old furniture and coaching a running team. So, you never know what you
@Itstoughouthere I am looking into a mirror. I had to stop work a few years ago and I was/am bored crazy. Yes I have had the why not start a hobby, but like you I have never had one. Empty nest I understand, but from a different set of different circumstances. Life stage transitions are hard, so keep connecting with people even if it is just to say hello. So hello to you. Who knows by sharing information and thoughts we may find some answers :)
@. Thank all of you so much for your replies. It means so much to me. Your validation made me feel valued. Thank you
@Itstoughouthere
Hi there
, first of all I like to assure you that all your posts are welcome, particularly when it is something that burdens you and you like to share. Thanks for your trust.
Sorry to hear about your hip replacement, those kind of surgeries can take quite a while to heal, some 10-12 weeks before normal activities can be started again but of course it depends on the body. Getting a "forced rest" is challenging, particularly when you are a very active person and it sounds like you are and also it's the first time for you to go through something like this.
Sorry that you suffer from feelings of emptiness, many people feel empty when kids are leaving home (empty nest syndrome) and struggle to build a new life.. Before your focus seemed to be on work, there was always something to do but now it's the time to find out what you truly desire in this stage of life, what interests you. What are some hobbies you liked when you were young which do not include big fees, like certain clubs do or is there something you always wanted to try but never did?
