@RelationshipBuilder Hi I was given a diet for some health problems. So I motivate myself thinking about not having to take more pills if I can follow the diet. I also hope that by following the diet it will help keep me out of the hospital. Good luck to you,I know that it is hard.

I keep a food and weight diary, recording everything I eat daily and weighing myself once a week. Each entry of a lower weight encourages me to get through one more week. Even if it's the same weight as the week before, that's great, too! And in 5 weeks it will be my one-year anniversary of starting my healthy eating. This is the first time in my life I've succeeded for this long. And I'm 61.

@RelationshipBuilder I don't know if I need to include your name in order for you to be notified, so I added this.

@RelationshipBuilder - I am in the same boat. Over 50. 30+ pounds to lose. Nothing I used to do, watching what I eat, more exercise, seems to be working. It's very frustrating, and I have to say a little bit depressing. Hopefully we can cheer each other on!

@enchanted123 They say that most exercises burn the wrong kind of energy. They burn up your sugar, making you hungrier. The goal is not to burn your sugar, but to burn your stored fat. Cardio is one of the worst culprits for burning sugar and actually increasing a person's weight! But moderately-paced walking burns fat. They say the key is never to break a sweat, or you've switched into the wrong mode. What works for me is much more of an emphasis on food than on exercise. Lots of leafy greens, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, celery (or any of those others) stewed in broth... (Plus a small portion of fish, chicken, or eggs, for protein.) You can eat those vegs till you are absolutely bursting and still lose weight, because they are high in bulk while low in calories.
