Caring for parents
Who else is in the role of caring or supporting their parents? Mine are in their 80’s and we have recently gon through a period of 5 -6 consecutive months of the hospital and rehab revolving door with my mother. How are you all coping with the role of caregiver/support person? It’s draining me emotionally.
@Memee4life
I know exactly how you feel.
My dad has recently had cancer and a ball fall, and my mother has a heart attack and has depression related issues as a result of it.
It's been four years of appointments, medication, doing injections, dressings, going to appointments, shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, making sure they are catered for, and some days it does feel endless.
I try to carve out some time in my day to just do something simple for me.
To unwind.
Even something small.
I remember why I do it.
And if no one told you today, you are doing a great job 💙

I hear you, it has its challenges. My parents are mid 80s. My mum has a heart condition and has recently had an operation on her knee. Appointments, shopping and life admin certainly keep me busy. My dad has dementia and his health is declining, so he’s now in a care home. I’m working too, but always try to do something for myself to help me unwind. Wishing you the best 🌹

I took care of my Senior parents before they passed away last year. It was hard, cause money is a big problem and I am the only one providing mostly for the money for doctors, check ups and visits to the hospital.
It affects my work too cause I need to take absences.

In a way we do, but it is a completely different situation. My mum died six years ago and did not need care for long, and mostly emotional support. Dad is a different story. Well in his eighties, stubborn and overestimating his health and what he can do. I don't have a spare key, he gave up his landline and doesn't use his mobile phone a lit, I don't know it when he goes on long vacations far away. I'm an only child and besides the emotional pain it is really a problem when something happens, I cannot even acces his insurence papers and pay his bills. Husband and I try to talk about over and over the past years, but it is a long process.
We also took care for my father five years ago and took him in our home until it was not possible anymore and after that had him over for weekends. The physical care was tough for my husband but we had a great time with him that wouldn't have want to miss.
I thought I could edit after posting but no, so here is the version without the mistakes:

@Memee4life It's a noble act what you're doing. You make the world a better place, protecting the vulnerable.
