Relationships with my adult children
Recently turned 50. Married with 2 kids in college. I’m feeling very disconnected from my spouse and kids.
Hi @honestBlueberry2717.
You have a right to feel disconnected at this critical time in your life. You now have to focus more on yourself since the kids are not there to distract you.
As a result your relationship with your husband has changed dramatically because of all these changes in your life.
Keep reaching out and find where you belong now.

it is a difficult time to navigate. kids are grown and will live their own life. i found sometimes things go smoothly and some create some friction. In time you will see they did listen to you they may do things like childhood or the ones who want to do opposite either way they figure out the effort you put in ... well at least that has been my experience.
The relationship changes and we have more time on our hands. spouses not always thrilled with the extra time lol
@honestBlueberry2717 I'm 62 and my relationship with my daughter has always been challenging since she had gotten older and she's 42 now. My son is just busy living his own life, starting it really so I understand he has no concept of time. He's 27 so guys are that way usually, I'm told. I'm reached out several times to my daughter but to no avail. I them told her that my heart couldn't keep taking the silence anymore. The ball was in her court now!

Sounds like you’re entering a new phase in life and it can be hard to adjust. I think it’s important to take time for yourself and to reconnect with previous hobbies. Also, celebrate you and your spouse for getting two kids to college!
