Vacation With Friends
Does anyone out there take vacations with their friends?
I have an old friend (My same age 56) that is always wanting me to go on vacations together. This was something we did when we were young but does not seem like something adults do.
Yes I have taken vacations with friends when our children were smaller. It would make the vacay more fun. You both have to agree to a similar type of vacay …. And have similar styles. 😎😎
@Gettingbettertoday 1. You have a friend. 2. You have the luxury of considering taking a vacation. 3. You get to do something fun with your friend.

1. You have a friend. (Not as if we don't spend time together, an average month we spend 20 hours together).
2. You have the luxury of considering taking a vacation (Would be the first one is 4 years)
3. You get to do something fun with your friend. (I have an anxiety disorder that does not allow me to premeditate pleasure, i.e. I can't look forward to things because it causes anxiety, and greatly inhibits my ability to enjoy anything since I am always on high alert for danger).

Hello Gettingbettertoday.
I understand your difficulty due to constant fear, you are always in alert mode trying to detect any danger.
If you don't feel comfortable with the vacation plan of your friend, would you maybe just relax and enjoy peaceful me-time moments during your well deserved holiday?
Sorry for the anxiety you experience often, it's surely challenging to deal with it, probably also quite draining.
Hope that after 4 years you will have chance to spend good vacation time, the kind of vacation that better matches with you 💜
Hello...I understand your anxiety. It is pretty relatable on my side. I used to go on holidays with my friends when younger. I hesitate to take one now even with a close friend or cousin. Instead of rejecting the idea totally I was thinking why not try to take day trips first? Planning a semi-structured holiday which would eliminate the possibilities a little bit might be a way to see how it goes. Best wishes.
Hi There!
I’m single without children and this is absolutely something I do! It makes everything better—the road trip, visiting sites, eating meals, and just having someone to hang out with and talk to at the end of the day.
It also allows me to go places that I may not be comfortable going to by myself. I get nervous in big cities, but I have a friend who loves them and navigates them well (and is willing to drive the rental car.).
Is there anything about this particular friend that makes you hesitant to go on vacation with them?

To me it’s one of the most adult things to do is to plan a trip with you and friends. Just doing you. I do it all the time. Not quite as old as you are, but I have one trip with family and one trip just for friends every year
