Doctors orders
My doctor thinks I need a support group since I don't have one in real life.
I am not sure why or what someone that is not trained in mental health can do for someone like me.
I suffer from Persistent Depressive Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety, Performance Anxiety, Anhedonia and I am a sober alcoholic. My doctor prescribes me plenty of pills but they do little for me.
I was once a successful person that was looked up to. Now I am a shell of my former self with nothing to look forward to except obligation.

im sorry to hear that but its important to have a support system while the people you surround yourself with may not be proffesionals they can provide comfort and a new outlook on your future
@Notsogoodtoday
your doctor probably wants you to vent and share stories so you know that there are other people out there experiencing the same thing that you are going through
@Notsogoodtoday i feel like theres nothing to look forward to alot, but i realized i have tomake things to look forward to. you seem smart and outgoing, i hope this passes and u can reach ur full potiental.
I suffer from major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety and complex-PTSD. Standard pharmaceuticals didn't help me either. But there are now alternatives: google 'psychedelic therapy'. Many psychedelic and related drugs have been shown to be helpful in clinical studies run by major research institutions. There are now many trial programs available in many countries where you could receive such treatment. If you are in Canada, psilocybin (magic mushrooms), although illegal, is tolerated and you can order online easily, or even buy locally (there is even a storefront in our town). I tried them and found them helpful - much more so than regular meds. But they are not a magic cure all - you will still have to work to change yourself and depending on how long and deep your problem is, it may take a long time to overcome.
