Here goes nothin’

Hi out there. This past year I’ve gone from managing a large payroll office to having a nervous breakdown followed by a major blood clot. I know, yikes. I went from a leader to a no one. After moving my (50+) staff to work independently from home in December 2020 due to COVID, I had to coach, train, mediate those that didn’t get along, etc. from home and I live alone. Due to the amount of pressure from my bosses, I lost it. I’ve basically been in isolation since December 2020.

After being taken off work by my doctor (due to my failing mental health) earlier this year I’ve been extremely depressed. The first day of my leave from my job, I ended up in the emergency due to a blood clot. Scared the crap out of me. So what I thought at the time was going to be a (3) month reprieve from my excruciatingly stressful job, turned into a fight for my life. Sooooo, needless to say, my world turned upside down.

Now fast forward (8) months later and still on leave from my job, I feel isolated, hopeless and just stuck at rock bottom.

I decided to try and find a support group so I don’t feel so alone. And that’s how I ended up here. I hope I did this right and that my long winded introduction didn’t turn anyone off. Just being real and raw. I used to be such a fighter, and leader, a soft place to land for my staff, and now I’m just an empty outline of what I used to be.

I’m so very sorry for all that you’ve had to endure! My heart goes out to you and I truly admire your courage, resilience, and fortitude. I am currently feeling the same way as you! It totally sucks and I get it!! ☹️❤️

Hi friend @StuckSadHopeless. What next is coming in ", i copied from another person, but I thought it also could be a little bit helpful to you:"Welcome to 7Cups! We are so glad you found us! There are many great ways to get involved here as part of the community...we have forums, chatrooms and 1-1 listeners who are here to support you. You can even search for a listener based on the specific topic you want to discuss so that you can find someone with experience in that area. On the app, just go to "browse listeners", then a drop down window appears and you can select "category" or "language" or "country" and many other options! Glad you are here!"

So, things have turned around for you. I'll tell you a little story. Recently a good footballplayer in his 20th. here in Norway got a heartattac when playing. He was ded for 4 min., but they managed to revive him. Now he is maybe not able to play again, it was a big part of his life.

Sadly life happens so that it can be difficult to recognize our life, ourself again.

I think "Pioneer" wrote good words to you.

About depression; maybe medicament from the doctor will help. I recently also saw a programme from BBC earth. The people there got probiotics (get it at pharmacia) and they felt 50% better from their depression. It is a new study so it is not "out there" and maybe not enough for your hard depression. Some youghurts have the same supplements as these tabletts. The stomack "talkes" to the brain.

One more step, one more day - maybe you can do that.

All the best from Helga.

Hang in there. I am going through the same thing as you minus the medical condition but experienced the same kind of nervous breakdown for stressing out over my staff and the workload in general. It may seem like the situation now is bleak but trust me it will get better. This app helps, whether by just reading through the threads or participating in them. It lets us know that we are not alone and the struggles are real.

@StuckSadHopeless

Hello to you, glad you joined ❤️

Unfortunately there are moments in life that give a very hard moment and it's not easy to face them. Really sorry you had to deal with certain situations and covid does not help, for sure.

I would hope there is something you can do in job field that helps you feeling more at ease and more rewarded. I know that to look back at how things were and how you were matching with them is something that happens but I would hope you can also just focus in the now moment and in the doable things that can help you having a better quality of life...without looking that much at the past that leads to not always positive confrontations.

Best wishes with everything!
