I'm 48, so not quite 50. I have been struggling with pre menopause since I was in my late 30's. Now that I'm 48, the struggle is getting worse and I'm having a really difficult time with depression. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!

It's normal. Menopause will take you on an emotional rollercoaster. My worst thing was irritability. I am 59 now do it's pretty much over. But so much has changed now that my hormones are gone. I get very tired, I have trouble losing weight, and I get depressed too. Hormone replacement didn't work for me, but it's an option. There are also natural creams out there. Hang in there!

Hello,

Have you talked to your Dr about the depression? I just turned 52 and I started pre-menopause when I was 29. I finally had a hysterectomy 6 years ago. I can understand the hormones and everything that comes with it. I would definitely talk to your Dr how you are feeling and they should be able to help you

Definitely see your dr and get hormone testing done. I almost got suicidal and just started getting really nutty. My hormone levels were way off. I also started seeing a psychiatrist. She out me on Zoloft to help with the hormones and it has made a huge difference! The panic attacks and insomnia were unbearable. It took a few weeks but I’m definitely much better now. She also gave me a script for Ativan for a few months until the hormones and Zoloft kicked in . That was a life saver. I was scared to take Ativan at first because it’s a benzo but I only took half a milligram a day for a 6 weeks period and made sure I didn’t abuse it and had no problems.

For the depression I don't have a remedy. I am turning 50 this year. I had to have a hysterectomy when I was 27. But as far as the hit flashes and the inbalance I found over the counter estrovent. I also have bipolar. And I have the mood swings and insomnia. For my bipolar they actually give me ability. And that is working good for me. But the insurance I still struggle with. I would start out taking melatonin over the counter it may help. Also a doctor told me if you are having hot flashes to drink something cold not hot. Because your body is heating up from the inside.
