Bad things and good people
Not sure if this is the right sub forum for this but I'm just thinking out loud here. I guess it falls under the discussion portion of the forum, maybe. Feel free to just read and reflect or add some more food for thought. It is something that has been on my mind a while so I'm just putting it out there. This post is not necessarily about me, mostly people in general, but can pertain to each and every one of us.
I'm sure most of us in the "over 50" catagory have been on this earth long enough to see a lot of good and bad in this world. One thing that always bothers me is the old "why do bad things happen to good people?". I know plenty of good, decent, folks who have had terrible circumstances, trials and tribulations, and just generally bad things happen to them. Being a good compassionate human being, one has to wonder why. What have they done to deserve this. Why is life so cruel sometimes. Then on the flip side, we see people who we know are doing questionable things, living questionable lives, rude, don't care about anyone but themselves, etc, who are thriving and seem to be living a good life. I guess there will never be an answer to this question, and it bothers me terribly. For me, some of the stuff I have seen, has made me question a lot of my beliefs, religious up brining and the way I look at life and the world in general. I don't want to start a religion debate or argument in here with this post. I"m a firm believer that you can believe what you want as long its not hurting anyone and you don't force it on me or anyone else. I guess I'm just getting some thoughts out of my head and trying to make sense of some things. I figure if I write them and read it, it may help. Anyway, thanks for letting me put my thought here.

Hi, I feel this 'why bad things happen to good people' strongly as I age.
Life is unfair . That is a fact. A cruel one. However, knowing and accepting it are different things altogether. I am frustrated, angry and disappointed as I grapple and struggle with this cruelty. As you mentioned too, we can never find the answer . Maybe not as we are living in the vicious cycle of this world.
I try to remind myself on the minority good things that had happened to good people. Surely, there must be some goodness and kindness too, even a slight drop of it. To convince myself that they are still nice people in this world where we are touched and inspired from their kindness and nice deeds. That there is still kindness in this world no matter how small it seems. That keeps me going a little, day after day.
