Hey there,

This is a big question....

How do you love yourself?

Like really love yourself?

What is the secret?

What do you say to your inner child?

The universe adores all its children ^^ Everything in the galaxy, from the stars, to the birds, the oceans and the seas, and all the world's people. Everything is connected, whole and complete, and can never be anything else.

Over time, humanity has lost its spirituality, and become consumed with trivialities. We started to live in the shadows of our egotism, thinking superficial things could somehow improve us, searching for status, for wealth. And then society's message to us became completely perverted from the truth - We no longer believed ourselves to be whole and complete. We started to believe that there was always supposed to be "something more". We lost our gratitude and humility, and our perceptions of ourselves became grotesque and dissatisfying. So rather than knowing the peace and contentedness that even the simplest creatures of the earth effortlessly comprehend, the most intelligent species of the planet became their own worst enemies.

To love yourself is to LET GO of every thought, every fear that enslaves you. You are WHOLE. You are COMPLETE. No one can take this away from you. The universe adores all its children. There isn't anything more than this.

Wishing you all the best ~ !

Hi azurekitten, I can tell you what helped for me. I had to see that my inner child deserved the same love and compassion as my actual children. I would never let anyone treat them the way I let myself be treated. I had to muster the same Mama-bearness for myself and my inner child. I still have to practice it but it's getting easier. Much love to you!

Wow!! These are the huge questions that are just about the "holy grail" of human existence. I'm not sure there is a secret. We all know how to do it. I wonder whether people get hung up on the shoulds of life, which for me at least, made it hard to really begin to love myself. And I am 52. I had a really hard time accepting the idea of an inner child, mostly because I really didn't like her. But then a few days ago I looked at an article about people who feel "broken". There were links at the bottom of the article to books and articles about self-compassion (which honestly I think is just the repackaging of "be good to yourself"). Anyway, looking at one of those books really upset me, and it all ended up with my crying on the phone to my mother, and realizing why I had hated that inner child. And in the midst of some really serious tears, I actually began to feel the way I had when I cried as a child, like my body remembered how that was and to do it. This experience is so new and frankly exciting for me that I want to share it because getting to this point is almost like reinventing the wheel, emotionally speaking. So for me the answer was to really be so spun up about something that touched a deep part of me that I actually finally figured it out. It only took four years. But the bottom line is that I suspect that everyone has to find their own way, starting by looking inside you to see what you think of that child as was. I hope that is something of an answer. Cheers! Crim

Wow! Thanks ladies for the amazing r plies. You've managed to put a spin on things that I can wrap my head around. I loved the first answer with all of its background knowledge of how we came to be. Also, the second answer about being my own Mama bear helped put things in perspective. And with the third answer I could definitely relate to your spiritual vomit of all the hurts of the past coming to surface. One thing about the last answer when she says she never liked her inner child struck a chord with me. I never hates my inner child. I've always loved her and I've longed for her many times as life got harder. I feel like I've let her down many times and that's very hurtful as I reflect. So I've decided that for my journey, I'm best to start with making my inner child proud and happy again. If I can make amends with her, I believe I will learn to love myself in the process. Wonderful replies. Thanks again 😘
