What did you do recently to be more mindful?

Hello everyone! In this thread we want to talk about how mindfulness can help us with everyday’s life.

The beauty of mindfulness is that we can practice it anywhere and at any time – washing the car, walking to the shops, or pulling up some weeds! As long as we focus on the very moment we’re in and be aware of the world around us, our thoughts and feelings do not have to overwhelm us. We can tune into our experience of even the most mundane tasks and appreciate what we are experiencing right now.

Becoming more aware of the present moment can help us enjoy the world around us more and understand ourselves better. When this happens, we often appreciate the little things that we might take for granted.

Being able to identify and manage our own emotions, as well as appreciate other people’s emotions is called emotional intelligence. This can help us to see things objectively and to respect others’ views. Emotional intelligence comes when we identify an emotion when it happens and are able to feel it (an emotion), and put a name to it. For example anger, jealousy or love, and then express it to others. Mindfulness is a technique that can help us become more in tune and aware of our emotions.

This can help when we feel threatened or have a disagreement with someone. Our interpersonal skills also help us connect emotionally with others, developing closer relationships and a shared understanding.

I am most aware of the present moment when I am focusing intensely on something I really enjoy, like doing artwork or playing my Guitar.

I can start being more Mindful by doing mindfullness Meditation while engaged in those activities.

Hello there laugh

That's nice, to be present in the moment while enjoying pleasant activities!

Do you think that meditation may help you better when you are not absorbed in what you enjoy the most?

Sorry, accidentally hit enter twice before I was ready. Thought about that after I posted. Probably takes too much focus to do the activities I mentioned and Meditate, although I do have to be right in the moment and Mindful to do them.

enlightenedWhen do I feel I am the most aware of the present moment?

When I get into an urgent situation where I need all my faculties OR when I am feeling less stress.

enlightenedHow can I start to be mindful more often? What did I do recently to be more mindful?

Practice is the short answer. I was working with my partner and they were stiffening up. Rather than get upset I just took a deep breath and massaged their hand and arm, asking them to breathe and relax. It worked.

@LoveMyRotty thanks for this great post!
