NEW TEEN MENTORS April 01

Hello Community! Today I'm very lucky to announce an exciting new group of teen mentors! Teens lets give them a warm and fuzzy and full of love welcome, all please join in congratulating these leaders in their new role!

1- Who are you? Im Harquinn!

2- What do you help with or want to help with? I love to help with quality projects.. mostly the Quality Coaching program but looking to start getting involved in more projects soon :)

3-Why did you want to become a teen mentor? The teen community is awesome! The listeners that I do know from the teen side are great :)

4- Cake or Cookies? Do I really have to choose? Cant I just alternate cake and cookies? J I found a box of mix at the store the other day that is cake with cookie dough bits in it..

1- Who are you?

I am a 19 year old student that has always been interested in Psychology and helping people sort through their problems. This is partly because I went through a lot of my own mental health problems throughout my own life. I like to take advantage of every opportunity in front of me (this is why I love the quote 'your life begins at the end of your comfort zone') and I try my best to live like this everyday even though some days I slack. I am a high energy person, so I really enjoy being busy and exercising my brain and body. I also love animals very much. Another part of my high energy attitude is that I am curious and love to learn about everything, especially other cultures.

2- What do you help with or want to help with?

Just recently I have started becoming more involved in 7Cups, and this is my first mentor role so I am sure this will be my chance to start helping out more. I chose the quality mentor track to start because I think this is extremely important to strengthen the 7Cups community. I want to start some fun projects to encourage listeners to be the best they can and always strive for that. I am not sure what that will turn into yet, but I am curious to discover new things I want to be involved in.

3-Why did you want to become a teen mentor?

I really like the teen side, I have talked to some great people after becoming a teen listener. I want to be a mentor overall because I want to be more involved in 7Cups and do more and more for this wonderful community. Amelia encouraged me to apply, and I am so happy she did!

1- Who are you?

Gosh, so many ways to answer that!

I'd say that I'm an ordinary human, just another traveler on the same journey we all share. I've been a high school teacher, lawyer, writer, and editor. But I always think of myself as a learner! I'm also a mom, which is important to me. And lately I've also worked part-time as a chef!

And I'm VERY happy to be a Listener at 7 Cups.

2- What do you help with or want to help with?

Currently I am a forum mentor with special involvement in two forum areas: Grief & Loss and Literature Club, plus I'm on the forum team in the Depression Support forum. I also like to assist with Special Events.

In addition, I like to mentor new listeners and also help listeners who need assistance in the middle of ongoing chats. Soon I'll be applying for moderator of group support rooms.

3-Why did you want to become a teen mentor?

The initial impetus was a few weeks ago when @QuickJazz needed a volunteer to lead discussions in teen group-support rooms. But I didn't have access to the Teen Listener room, so I needed to become a Teen Mentor to host discussions there. But I will be happy to help in other ways, too.

1- Who are you?

My name is Nick and I am a 20 year old college student studying social work and criminology, pursuing to be a Child Protective Services agent coming out of college and eventually a school counselor/social worker. I spend the little free time I have on 7 Cups and playing video games on the computer. I am currently engaged to my wonderful and loving fiancee Erin and we are getting married soon after I graduate(2018). Basically on 7 Cups,

2- What do you help with or want to help with?

I want to help with improving the quality of listeners as well as just giving the listeners different lifelong skills such as active listening. While a lot of this will help you on your journey as a listener, most of the things you learn here can also translate to real life situations as well.

3-Why did you want to become a teen mentor?

7 Cups is a blessing for me because it has helped me decide my major of social work to be honest Ever since I started, I wanted to help more than just be a listener. I felt 7 Cups has helped me decide my entire path of life, so I wanted to help it and everyone involved. The positions I hold here at 7 Cups before I became a mentor include Group Moderator, Campus Leader, and Operations Assistant. I wanted to become a teen mentor because through a few of my classes dealing with social work in college, I have learned thus far that "It is easier to create a good child, than repair a broken man." This quote speaks volumes and says that if something is wrong, we should be taking a proactive standpoint on it before that individual becomes older. It is easier to fix now than later, in other words, so I wanted to focus on the teen side. The other reason is, being 20 years old, I have all the knowledge of what happened with my friends in high school and what teens are going through, so I have a wonderful insight with this generation's youth.
