“As unfortunate as it may be, the ability to fall asleep as soon as one hits the bed is quite rare. One can also say that it is a luxury not everyone can afford. One method that can help you fall asleep is the Military sleep method. The first mention of this sleep method traces back to a book published in 1981 titled “Relax and Win: Championship Performance”. Aimed at helping US navy pilots fulfill their sleep requirements and snooze off within 2 minutes, the military sleep method gained popularity due to its property of being both effective and efficient. This technique can take an individual up to six weeks to master but in case one manages to ace it, they can fall asleep within 120 seconds (2 minutes) or even 10 seconds after hitting the bed.“

Instructions: “Start by relaxing your body from head to toe. Begin releasing tension from your forehead muscles and do it all the way down to your toes. Simultaneously, clear your mind for 10 seconds while regulating your breath. If you have trouble clearing your head, repeat “Don’t think” for 10 seconds. “

“There are three major areas that must be focused on while practicing this technique:

  1. Make sure that you focus on and regulate your breath.
  2. Relaxing the body is a prerequisite.
  3. Taking steps to calm and relax the mind is extremely essential as well.

“Military sleep method can help release tension from the muscles and relax the body, calm the mind and reduce instances of stress and anxiety. It improves sleep quality, thereby boosting cognitive and overall bodily functions. It helps de-clutter the mind, enhances focus, and improves brain health. This method can prove to be an extremely way to save time and get the required amount of uninterrupted sleep.“

💬 Have you heard of this technique before? If so, have you tried it?

This is fascinating, I'll keep it in my mind the next time I struggle falling asleep. I usually just knock out as soon as my head hits the pillow though haha!

The same for me! I do not tend to have problems falling asleep and when I do, then also other techniques work for me. I think people who have chronic sleeping difficulties or noisy environments would benefit the most from this.

@fruityPond7887

I do not have problems with sleeping so I have not tried it myself. However, I think it works after the skill is mastered because relaxing of body and mind should remove any obstacles to falling asleep.

@globalBraid3744 The main part that I'm missing of what you just said is "relaxing of the body and mind." LOL I wish
