im new to this app but I’m happy I found it. I have a pretty deep secret addiction to something that is considered toxic. I recently went cold turkey and stopped completely and I haven’t talked to my own personal therapist or anyone for that matter because I’m scared they might put me in a mental institution or run a bunch of test.
@ButterflyPink25 Addiction is hard to cope with. Your therapist's tests are safe and only meant to help you. I know that first hand as a psych student. Also you won't be taken into a mental health institution if you can cope with it. These institutions are always the worst case scenario. Plese talk to your therapist about it as they are the only one who can help you get rid of addiction permanently. Us listeners are also here to provide you with emotional support.
