A Talk on Self-Care with Sia

December 24th, 2021

Interviewee: @sia1325

What is your idea of spending a balanced time on 7cups? Share your idea of how a good day looks like on 7cups, for you.

My idea of spending a balanced time on 7 cups is simple: fix your active hours. When you find yourself lurking in chatrooms or doing nothing on cups, you know when to take a step back!

For me, a good day on 7 cups is when I have done something productive for any of the projects I am a part of or simply taking a member chat and knowing that I have been of some help! I generally try to restrict my hours on 7 Cups so I really consider it a good day when I am able to complete all the tasks on time. (:

What challenges did you face in trying to strike that balance?

Finding a balance is not an easy task. It was hard to keep myself away from the active chatrooms and the forums. Also, it's not always possible to get all the tasks done in time. Over that, sometimes it’s not really possible to say “No” to certain things and also enforcing boundaries can be a bit difficult sometimes!

How did you try to deal with those challenges?

Once you acknowledge what you need the most, you try to work on those challenges and that’s where you complete the first step in finding the balance. (: I prioritized what I needed the most and started working towards it and hence started limiting my hours on cups or in other words, I fixed the active hours! One of the things that helped me a lot was talking to my peers and also, dropping a couple of roles especially hosting slots and chose to only be an on-spot host :’)

What are the benefits of improving your balance for the time you spend on cups?

The benefits of improving the balance are a lot but mostly, there are a lot of other things that may need you and improving your balance also helps you to explore more things and do well in other aspects apart from cups! It helps in recognizing where you need yourself the most and what is better for you and also makes you less prone to burning out! And and and, it also reduces your screen time :’D

What message would you like to give to the cupsers who have come to be negatively attached to cups, in one of the many ways?

It’s definitely hard to not to get attached to this wonderful place but it’s even hard to fight against the addiction but no matter what, once you acknowledge what is best for you and start working towards it, I am sure you’ll be able to find the balance and it may take quite some time to achieve this balance so make sure to take things slowly and also to look after yourself, your wellbeing matters a lot! Oh and always remember that you are too amazing for trying to put yourself first! “Be kind to yourself and then let your kindness fill the world.” (:

Wonderful interview❤ So glad to read about how you have found balance between 7 cups and other things in life.

I find it interesting how many of us has experienced 7 cups addiction, but it's not talked about very often. This is such an important series.
