@oliveFig9087 Hey olive, I am so sorry to hear about your struggles. Addiction can truly take over control of one's life. How have you been coping? If you ever need to talk with someone, the listeners are always here.

Feel free to also keep us updated on how you are doing whenever you wish. Take care! :)

Can you elaborate ? What are you spending it on ?

It all depends on what you spend your money on. If it is useless stuff, then you need to do something about it. There is even a disease called hoarding.

I had a similar problem for a long time. I was constantly buying new clothes, donating to online games and so on. In my case, it helped that I started living on my own and supporting myself without help. Under these conditions, unless you are a millionaire (if you are, you don't have to worry about this problem), you can't buy whatever you want all the time, because money tends to run out.

How did you reel it in if you don’t mind my asking.

@Sensitive54
It's all very simple. I got fed up with the constant fighting with my parents (my father most of the time) and decided to move out. But in order to move out I needed money. I used to live on my father's pocket money. When I turned 21, I left home, got a job where I got more than my father's pocket money. But the problem was that I had compulsory expenses such as rent, food, medicine, money for gifts for my girlfriend and so on. With that, I just didn't have enough money for myself. Moreover, when my income level increased, I no longer bought unnecessary things, because now I know the value of money. Every cent spent is worth the time. And time is not infinite. Be mindful of time. Realise that you are not eternal. We sleep half our lives, we eat 15% of our lives, we work 30%+ of our lives. If you add it all up, you don't even have much time left for yourself. And if you also spend money on unnecessary things, then over time you realize how stupid you've been. (I apologize for the grammatical errors, English is not my first language)

Life Beyond Addictions
There are many routes to changing habits that have the quality of addiction. Overall, when a person feels supported to change, it can give leverage to forming new behaviors. However, supports are just one part of the equation. The most central part of changing is when the person recognizes a better way to do life.

Here are a few examples of life-changing approaches that are available to almost everyone. For instance, 12 Steps support groups, such as Spenders Anonymous, Spenders & Debtors Anonymous, and Debtors Anonymous. There are also SMART Recovery programs too.

Another option is psychotherapy or alternative counseling. The distinction between the two is that therapy mainly uses a behavioral approach, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Therapy (EMDR). In addition, many treatments examine past belief systems and use this as a basis for change. It is similar to 12 Steps supports in this regard.

In alternative counseling, the basis is restoring health rather than defining a condition by inventory. It is an inside-out approach that aims to recognize health. With an understanding of how to engage insight, new directions in life unfold. It differs from the deficit paradigm, and it is also evidence-based. An example of information can be found at Sydney Banks, and there are registered practitioners, similar to licensed therapists.

These examples are for general information to illuminate a new pathway of thinking about life. Since everyone is at a unique place in life, it is up to each person to decide what works. When guided by insight, choice improves, and health expands.

Another route is physiology. What many people refer to as addiction corresponds to biochemical responses. Our bodies have sensors that recognize gratification/reward and punishment/dissatisfaction. When we feel gratification, chemicals release into the bloodstream, such as dopamine, which creates a feeling of satisfaction. In this sense, addiction to spending or any addiction is a chemical response based upon association. Once the association shifts completely, the addiction ends.

Everyone in life deserves gratifying moments. We have healthy ways of doing this, and there are diseased ways too. Once a person realizes a healthy alternative that can release the same amount of dopamine from the brain, it becomes a new way of living. Love is the game-changer of healing! 💜
Understanding brain chemistry is natural because we are body-based creatures. However, brain activity occurs from thinking, and thoughts are formless until they are expressed. It means, if a person thinks there are solutions, then a secure feeling is likely to follow. I hope everyone on this planet is to finds a healthy thinking wavelength, and insight is the key to discovering it.

[This information is to encourage discussion rather than advisement or diagnosis. We all deserve well-being. In a sense, the spark of wellness begins from within by uncovering the health that already resides within us. ✨👨‍👨‍👦‍👦👨‍👩‍👧‍👦✨]

this is the reason i joined 7 cups ..

i haven't found very many resources for impulse control.

i have very little control when it comes to spending money .. specially on clothes and beauty stuff .. and food .. iv had this issue for years . it gets bad then moderate then worse again . its like bingeing.

the sad thing is usually when i get it home i dont care about it any more. im not attached to the things i buy more like i just want to try them then i dont care about it any more

im a sucker for anything that i think will make my life easier or get me more convince .

i also struggle with eating healthy

being on my phone

anxiety

i want to have better self control but when push comes to shove , i almost always cave to my impulsives. :(

Well, knowledge will be useful to you in any case, since this is what makes you develop in trading. I think everything will come with experience.

That's for sure. It's great that you devote a lot of time to studying theory, because it also helped me at one time. I'm pretty good at strategies and even tried to come up with something of my own, so I turned to https://www.audacitycapital.co.uk/, applied for cooperation and was approved. This trading firm will provide me with the necessary funding under certain conditions, such as that profits are split in half. Also, I don't worry about drawdowns.
