I have been married for 18 yrs. When we met he was on alcohol and pills. He got clean from that after he was using sex with other women to feed his addiction. I should have divorced him then but I felt like if he got clean he would be the man I married. Boy was I wrong. He recently OD on fentyal and our son found him in time to get help. His brothers is an addict too and his mom helps feed his addiction. My sister in law passed away from drugs in Oct 21 and I do t know if I should turn my back on him or help him like he’s begging me too. I look at him and see a person I hate! I don’t know if this marriage should be saved or could be? I feel like he is using me for a roof over his head and a phone. I work in healthcare and pay all the bills. Am I wrong for wanting to be rid of him and the drugs? Am I wrong to want to make sure he is alive for our kids? My mind is all over the place. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

Hi, I'm so sorry. It doesn't have to be easy for you to deal with an addicted husband. And there is no real answer to your question. Despite being married, you have every right to be tired of this behavior. You've tried to change it, but if your husband isn't going to change there is little you can still do. You are his wife, not his mother. Whatever decision you make, it will be fine. But only if that's what you want. If you decide to try and help your husband again, that's fine, if you decide not to, that's fine anyway. It doesn't make you a bad person, wanting to have a reliable man by your side. Especially if you also have children.
