Trying to quit smoking

Hi everyone. I decided to write here because I feel stuck and I think it might help to share my story.

I’ve been smoking for about 10 years now. It started casually, like it does for many people, just something social that didn’t feel serious at the time. Over the years it slowly became part of my daily routine, and now I can clearly see that it’s an addiction, not just a habit.

I’ve tried to quit many times. Sometimes I stopped cold turkey and felt motivated at first, but after a while the cravings and stress would catch up with me and I’d end up smoking again. Other times I tried to reduce how much I smoke or replace cigarettes with other things, but it never really solved the problem. I’ve had periods where I managed to stay smoke-free for a few weeks, and those moments gave me hope, but one bad day, strong emotions, or stress would pull me back.

What’s hardest for me is that I really want to quit. I know how much this affects my health, my breathing, my energy, and even my mood. I don’t like feeling controlled by something, and yet here I am, still struggling with it.

I’m writing here to ask others who understand this. How do you deal with addiction? Have any of you managed to quit smoking, and if so, what actually helped you in the long run? How do you get through the hardest moments when your mind keeps pushing you back to it?

I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences. Even small insights or honest stories would mean a lot. Thanks for reading and for being here.

@carefulOrange9286

I admire your honesty.

And I'm glad you came here.

I hear your stress and your desire to change.

I genuinely hope someone who has kicked the habit, may be able to shed some light for you.

Good luck my friend 💚 🤗
