Using opiates for symptoms of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I used opiates tonight, because several things happened to me in quick succession that triggered my CPTSD, and in that moment I knew the quickest and easiest way to feel better was to take some. And it worked for the purpose I took it for. I know there are other ways to deal with being triggered, but none of them work anywhere near as well, or as quickly. I generally don't use opiates in this way, but sometimes it seems like a legitimate use for them. I've gone to therapy, and tried my hardest to do the work to heal, and done so for years. It makes me wonder if for some people, these drugs are really just a medication they need in order to function better in life. Of course they can cause trouble when abused, and their being illegal and the black market sets things up so that's not currently an option. But just imagine if people with severe trauma could get them prescribed from a Dr. as needed, and carefully controlled and monitored. I feel that I'd have a better quality of life if that was possible to do under a doctor's supervision, and without being judged and without the stigma. I guess MAT programs do exist. Maybe that's what I should be looking into. I don't know. It's just an idea that's come to mind.

Taken occasionally, at low dosage , opiates are rarely a problem. They have been used for thousands of years.
Used regularly they are an absolute nightmare.
