Addiction to stan twitter
Hi.. so i’m not sure if this is the correct space to rant, but I’m feeling depressed since the start of pandemic because I noticed I’m in too deep with this foreign actor that I stan on twitter (or X now) and I find myself drawn to his updates. Like if I miss something I feel sad… and it’s bugging me cos I wasn’t always like this, now I get consumed. Like if something bad happens to the actor or someone bullies him I fight people, and if something good happens to him I’m in a good mood also? I have a social life outside but I still tend to check updates of him and I want to break this habit but I don’t know how to start
@winsomi Hello, it's completely okay to share your feelings here. It's clear that your attachment to this actor on X is affecting your well-being, and it's great that you want to work on breaking this habit.
One helpful approach could be setting clear time limits for checking updates. It might be tough at first, but taking small steps away from constant updates could really help. For example, you can allow yourself to check only once in the morning and then focus on your day. Additionally, finding other ways to support yourself, like exploring your hobbies and interests, or spending more time with friends, can help divert your attention and improve your overall well-being.
It's also a good idea to avoid engaging in online conflicts about the actor. X can be quite detrimental to mental health, and disengaging from these situations may eventually make a big difference.
Remember, it's okay to seek support from friends or a psychologist if you feel that this attachment is significantly affecting your well-being. You're taking the first step towards change, and that's a positive move. Take care 🫶
