Alcohol addiction
I love it but I hate it. I know I need to stop. Constant anxiety. I don’t want to stop I want to be able to get a handle on it. But I finished a handle I bought last Tuesday by Friday. And from Friday to today 4 bottles of champagne. I’m disgusted, scared, and worried.

Hello. As far as I saw it happening in the lives of my friends, recovering from alcohol addiction is rarely a matter of struggling alone. If you want to heal, there are usually other people involved, like therapists, friends from AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meetings or therapy groups, or people close to you, if they know what addiction is about. It's not an easy way.
But the first important question is: are you ready to stop, or still want to go on? There is usually _NO_ safe way back to controlled drinking as soon as you admit that you are an addicted person and start to make your efforts for recovering.
The anxiety that makes you tend to drink might be properly addressed by a professionalist. But you would have to cease drinking first.
The emotions you feel are valid. But I believe sinking them in champagne is neither cheap, nor a good way.
I'm 7 months sober and I remember that feeling so well. It sounds like you're in the "pre-contemplation" stage of behavior change. You might not be ready to change yet but you're thinking about it.
Some questions to consider in this stage:
-What is your payoff for drinking?
-What are the effects during and after heavy drinking?
-What are you afraid would happen if you stopped drinking?
This might also be a good time to research the effects of alcohol on your body, and maybe watch some vlogs on YT from people who are sober and talking about their experiences after quitting drinking.
I can tell you that I feel soooo much better after 7 months sober. I don't have heartburn when I'm trying to fall asleep, or wake up with 3 am anxiety. I don't even think about drinking, honestly.
I am in the maintenance phase, so I do have to not take sobriety for granted. I've returned to drinking after long breaks before, thinking it will be different. It always eventually escalated, though, and I am not doing that to my body anymore.

@passionateCup5140 I get why you feel this way. When things get overwhelming, sometimes we try to cope in ways that end up making it worse. It’s like trying to escape for a moment, but it just keeps pulling you back. I really hope you can find a way out of it, and I’m here for you❤️
