I want you to know I'm rooting for you! Hooray for day 2!! 🎉🎉🎉

I have experience with a different substance, and I'd like to share a few things that helped me through those early days, in case it's helpful. (This is for general support and doesn't apply if you're experiencing severe withdrawal symptoms. If you are, please seek immediate medical attention at an ER; I strongly recommend medical consultation either way!)

✨Cravings often pass within 10 minutes. Find a quick distraction to ride them out, like a phone game, a short walk, a funny video - or a post here!

✨It's a cliché, but true: take it one day at a time. You don't have to fix everything at once. Focus on making it through today as well as you can.

✨Nourish your body, because substance use can deplete essential nutrients: healthy foods and plenty of water.

✨ Consider your triggers and develop coping strategies. What situations or emotions make you want to use? Write them down and think of healthy ways to deal with them (e.g., calling a friend, posting here, exercise).

✨Celebrate! Each hour, each day is a reason to celebrate. Those early days and weeks are the hardest. I've been there! (I'm 7 months sober and feel great. After a few months the milestones fly by, hang in there!)

I'm really glad you are here; you're not alone & you've got this! Sending you strength and good vibes. 😊

I don’t know how helpful my advice will be, but my good friend says that sour candy (or anything sour) is really helpful with curbing cravings. I just bought myself a pack of sour candy so I can try it when my cravings get bad. That same friend also told me that a Baja Blast from Taco Bell is the best thing in the world that helps with her cocaine cravings, even better than sour candy. I hope this helps!
