Very guilty that I feel angry at God 😕

Hello… Having a bit of a breakdown so maybe I won’t make sense.

Was an addict for decades. Two years ago quit alcohol and pills completely. 6 months ago quit drugs completely, 4 months ago quit cigarettes completely.

Cut off all my sexual/ romantic relationships that God would not approve of which ruined my life. Cut off all my friends, all of whom were just there for drugs. Even cut off watching anything inappropriate for over 8 months now.

Let go of people I loved so deeply and intensely with all my heart.

And for what? I feel so guilty saying this but it feels I sacrificed so much for God, tried to do everything he asked, and got absolutely nothing in return.

None of that peace I was hoping for, no joy, nothing. Nothing. No clarity. Not a thing. No love. No friends. Let go of instant gratification thinking it would bring long term gratification but it brought no type of gratification whatsoever.

Spiraling and feeling so beyond heartbroken and empty and short-changed and guilty.

Bring this anger to God.

Be honest.

You are human.

And we all struggle.

You wouldn't have stopped all of the things you mentioned ultimately if you were enjoying them or feeling fulfilled.

It's difficult now but you need to find a passion they makes you feel alive 💚

It makes it difficult to continue when effects arent noticed but the fact that you have been strong and been able to stick to your plan is evidence in its self that you are getting some form of help. You are breaking an incredibly difficult bond with negative impacts on your life. Continue to make your life better and focus on the positive. Your health is benefiting from this change alone. Take enjoyment in the fact that you are strong! Pray to God and let him know how you feel and continue to ask for help. Dont give up, I am proud of you.

Hello ! Very very impressive job 🙌 I agree with previous posts and give +1 to support you . Keep going , it’s a long way therefore interesting.

I am having same sort of thing and what helps me - hearing similar stories and feeling I’m not alone .

From my side - you stick to your body/soul balance point as much as your willpower allows - you are captain here , keep going . But because you know you do your best already based on your abilities and wisdom by this moment - accept the result with gratitude even if it’s not what you expected. It could be much worse - be grateful for what you got .This way you shift your attention from absent things to present things and stay with them , face them bravely. Once you manage to fully accept your reality now - first of all you’ll see it’s not that bad , second - any small improvements will be noticeable better and with bigger gratitude 🙏🏽

What you ‘ve done takes incredible strength. You didn’t just quit substances, you changed your whole life including relationships that were not longer serving you and that’s trying to live in alignment with your faith. Feeling empty right now doesn’t mean it was pointless, it also doesn’t erase the efforts. it means you’re in the hard middle stage of healing, where the old life is gone and the new one hasn’t fully grown yet.

It’s okay to feel disappointed or lost, even with God. That doesn’t make you weak or unfaithful

it makes you human because early recovery comes with quite grief and loneliness people don’t talk about trust me it wasn’t pointless. It shows that healing is unfolding and you are declutering for your next phase. You don’t have to carry this alone. Reaching for support now is part of the healing, not a failure. I’m a therapist and I can walk with you in this journey if you want.

You are still rebuilding, and that takes time. The fact that you’re here and still trying says more about your strength than this moment of pain ever could. You are not behind. You are healing and you deserve help and companionship as keep going. Look at the comments you are not alone

‭James 1:13 NIV‬

[13] When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone;

ask yourself, what about prayers, prayers is a way to communicate to God, talk to him, complain about everything to him, because he is your Father...you've done a good job quitting all this sinful ways, but prayer is the key

Do you even know why done this for God?
What do you expect from God in return?

If you want a better life then ofc you can't do it alone, you need a community support and a good mentor else no way you could done things right cause you will always struggles.

Sex is not forbidden in my believe as long as it is not full of just lust and should be always in consent and within the scope of marriage, husband and wife, this is why it is advice for someone who are not able to control their sexual urges it is advice to get married.

I understand about sex not being seen as forbidden or taboo in your beliefs I too am Torn Between the traditional intimacy roles of a man and woman that I was taught as acceptable and valued and the approach and practices that I have seen men and women use in today's society regarding sensuality sexuality and that expression
