I’m sorry you’re going through this. Please don’t feel as though you have to kick the habit alone. If you had a friend who found themselves hooked, what would you tell them? The purpose of shame and guilt is to convince a person they made a mistake and they need to change something. You already recognize that need, therefore, you no longer have need of shame and guilt.
One problem with shame and guilt is that it destroys confidence, the very strength that’s needed in order to make positive change.
You don’t deserve shame and guilt. You’ve already learned from it and because of that, you’re no longer the same person.
Yes, you do need help, and with it, you can leave the addiction behind.

You are not your mistakes. Yeah, you stumbled upon something unhealthy, stuck with it, and fell hard. And that hurts — really bad. But you're not the things you do when you're in pain. Chasing your next high so you can be behind a frosted glass from life, where nothing wrong or messed up can worry you? You probably find it disgusting and ugly. I’m sure I would too if I were you. But you know what? Being an addict while you're sober is depressing af, and it hurts. Having to run away from that is human. You would be broken if you didn’t feel that way.
Being dope sick sucks as it is. Having to also be the only restraint tethering yourself to your intentions to stay sober is exhausting. If you’re going to try doing it by yourself — it’s not something you can’t do, but all the tons of setbacks that come your way? Just try to remember it’s normal, not some kind of personal flaw since you’re the only one involved and left to blame.
I know it feels like clawing your way up a canyon using your nails. Like you’re alone. But contrary to what it feels like, there are people around who actually care that you stay sober — people who wish for you to get through. Not all of them might be helpful in ur efforts, but it means you’re not exactly alone.
And if you have even the tiniest suspicion that some of them might help, it’s worth it to ask and risk being turned down. That life after our mistakes ? It is worth every rejection, insult, setback, and disappointment. Besides, people don’t live the life you do — they don’t get to judge you too harshly for who you are.
That’s probably the shiiitiest thing I’ve read in awhile. Man if you can turn that corner and get good support you can make it man. Just just don’t give up.
